As per Mike Puma of the New York Post, New York Mets right-hander Robert Gsellman (torn right lateral muscle) appears to be getting closer to activation off the 10-day injured list.
The four-year MLB veteran threw a bullpen session on Saturday and will throw another “in the coming days”, as per Puma.
Gsellman, 26, hit the IL on August 17 with what was originally reported as right triceps soreness. Since then, various reports have noted a tear in the California product’s lateral muscle, but his official diagnosis remains the former, via MLB.com.
Over 52 appearances this season (63.2 innings), Gsellman owns a 4.66 ERA with 60 strikeouts (8.48 per nine), 23 walks (3.25 per nine), and 1.37 WHIP.
