Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets hope to avoid the sweep today against Dallas Keuchel and the Atlanta Braves. Steven Matz (8-7, 4.18 ERA) will be toeing the rubber against Keuchel (4-5, 4.14 ERA). The game is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and can be viewed on PIX11 and WCBS 880.

Despite Pete Alonso‘s record-tying 41st home run, Brad Brach and the rest of the Mets bullpen were unable to hold a late-inning lead as they fell to the Braves 9-5.

Edwin Diaz, who left the game in the ninth inning on Saturday with apparent discomfort, is dealing with trapezius tightness.

NL Wild Card Update

After last night’s loss, the Mets currently sit two games behind Cardinals, the owner of the second wild card, and five games behind the Nationals.

The Nationals completed their sweep of the Cubs, who are still two games ahead of the Mets.

The Phillies, who sit 1.5 games behind the Cubs, defeated the Marlins by a score of 9-3.

After last night’s 4-0 victory, the Brewers look to finish off their sweep of the Diamondbacks today. The Brew Crew have the same record as the 67-62 Mets.
