
Mets catcher Tomas Nido was hit with a vicious backswing by Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson in the top of the sixth inning on Friday night.
Nido stayed in the game for the final out of the inning after both Mets trainers checked him out. Wilson Ramos came in for Nido in the top of the seventh inning.
Syracuse Mets catcher Rene Rivera was lifted for a pinch hitter only a few minutes after the incident. Rivera is enjoying the loaded ball of the International League with a career-high 25 home runs already.
Rivera played in parts of the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Mets.
