According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the New York Mets posture in Noah Syndergaard trade talks remains that they would have to be overwhelmed by the return to accept any deal for the starter.

Sherman notes that despite interest from multiple teams including the Padres, Rockies, Dodgers, and Brewers the Mets are still yet to be blown away by any offers.

The Mets are said to be seeking a return that would make an immediate impact at the big league level. And with their top ranked farm system, the Padres have been one of the most rumored teams this offseason.

However, as Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports noted as of this moment San Diego “doesn’t look like a great fit,” in trade talks. Rightfully so, the Mets are said to be seeking top prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. However, the Padres have made the 19-year old infielder untouchable.

Syndergaard, 26, has a career record of 37-22 with a 2.93 ERA and 573 strikeouts over 518 innings. In 2018, he went 13-4 with 155 strikeouts, just 39 walks, and a 3.03 ERA over 154 innings.
