As per Mike Puma of the New York Post, the New York Mets have added former Cubs hitting coach and one-time Mets managerial target Rudy Jaramillo to their list of potential hitting coaches.

Jaramillo, 68, served as the Texas Rangers’ hitting coach from 1995 through 2009 before joining the Cubs (2010-2012) under the same title.

The team has also targeted Chili Davis — most recently employed as the Cubs’ hitting coach — and former Met first baseman and Padres, Red Sox, Rangers, and D-Backs hitting coach Dave Magadan as potential replacements.

On Monday, the team announced the hiring of Jim Riggleman as skipper Mickey Callaway‘s bench coach. It seems that addressing the vacancy left by the firing of Pat Roessler is next on the Mets’ list of priorities.

Slowly but surely, the New York Mets seem to be sewing up their loose ends. Hopefully, they’ll turn their attention to the roster soon.
