According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, it is expected that during this weeks GM meetings in San Diego the Major League Baseball general managers will at least consider eliminating trade waivers and switching to a uniform trade deadline.

As it stands right now, the current non-waiver trading deadline takes place on July 31, followed by the waiver trade deadline on August 31.

Morosi notes that under this change, the new uniform deadline would possibly be pushed back until mid-August.

Any changes would require further approval by the players’ union beforehand.
