Alonso was not at his best today as he was on top of the ball all afternoon generating ground balls in three of his five ABs. One of those ground balls found a hole though during the Scorpions six run top of the sixth inning. With runners on first and second with no outs, Alonso reached for a 1-2 pitch breaking pitch down and away and was able to pull it through the left side of the infield for his fourteenth RBI of the season. Only Milwaukee’s Keston Hiura has driven in more RBIs (25) than Alonso this fall season.

The Desert Dogs would rally back in the bottom of the seventh inning loading the bases with two outs in the inning. Righty Stephen Nogosek was called on to try and pitch through the high leverage situation but failed to retire any of four batters he faced. He allowing all three inherited runners to score plus one earned run of his own before Gerson Bautista was called in to bail him out of any further damage. Bautista would stay on for the bottom of the eighth inning but was pulled after allowing back to back singles to lead-off the inning.
Gimenez would come into the game to pinch hit in the top of the ninth inning and would draw his eight walk of the season pushing his OBP up to .314 despite only a .111 batting average. He would be replaced in the bottom half of the inning for Ali Sanchez as a defensive replacement at catcher.
