The Mets made their hiring of Brodie Van Wagenen official. Personally, I thought Michael Scott would have been a good choice for GM (Just look at his mug)!

Mike Puma of The New York Post tweeted that the Mets will hold a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. to announce Van Wagenen’s hiring.

Jon Heyman of Fancred disclosed that Van Wagenen’s contract is for four years.

Buster Olney of ESPN disapproves of the Mets’ choice to tab Van Wagenen.

Mets prospects Andres Gimenez and Peter Alonso were named to the AFL’s All-Star game.

Six former Mets are officially free agents now. Devin Mesoraco, Jose Reyes, Jerry Blevins, AJ Ramos, Jose Lobaton and Austin Jackson are all not likely to return.

Amed Rosario was chosen to represent Major League Baseball during their international tour. Rosario and 28 other Major-Leaguers will play against Japanese teams from November 8th to Nov. 15.
