The Mets have officially recalled Chris Flexen from triple-A Las Vegas to start today’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Drew Smith has been optioned back to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Flexen has allowed four earned runs in 3.1 innings for the Mets this season. That follows a 7.88 ERA he posted last year over 48 big league innings.

In Triple-A this year he has a 4.84 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 67 innings spanning 13 starts and a relief appearance.

Meanwhile, Smith appeared in three games with the Mets in which he allowed one run, four hits, and two walks to go along with two strikeouts in three innings of work.
