There’s definitely similarities between the New York Mets 2018 first round pick Jarred Kelenic and their star outfielder Brandon Nimmo, and that has already helped forge a bond between the two.
Kelenic, from a cold weather state in Wisconsin much like Nimmo from Wyoming, was at Citi Field on Wednesday taking batting practice and getting introduced to the media.

Nimmo and Kelenic were both drafted as left-handed hitting center fielders in the first round with Brandon going 13th overall in 2011 and Jarred sixth overall this year. Neither of them played high school baseball their senior years with Nimmo playing American Legion and Jarred playing travel ball.
The 18-year-old Kelenic did an in-game interview with Steve Gelbs saying that Nimmo has already taken him under his wing after contacting him shortly following the Mets selecting the youngster on June 4.
Kelenic has started off his pro career by going 8-for-13 with a double, triple, stolen base and two runs knocked in over three games for the GCL Mets.
