As per Matt Ehalt of The Record, the New York Mets are expecting Wilmer Flores to return from the disabled list during the team’s upcoming road trip.
Flores, 26, has been on the DL since May 28 after leaving mid-game on May 27 with lower back soreness. The diagnosis was a disc issue that required the infielder to receive a shot.
Flores spoke to Ehalt about his progress.
“I feel good now. You get discomfort like this all the time,” he said. “I tried to play through it with treatment. It didn’t go away like I thought it would…”

Mets manager Mickey Callaway seems to have a fair amount of confidence in Flores’ ability to snap back into form upon his return, as implied in his comments to Ehalt.
“Being a bench player already in his career, he’s gone quite a long time between at-bats,” Callaway said. “We’ll have to see when that time comes.”
Flores was slashing .248/.320/.398 in 113 at-bats with three home runs and thirteen runs batted in at the time of his injury, mostly spelling Adrian Gonzalez at first base, spending some time at second and third, as well.
He hit .290/.352/.435 in 62 at-bats in May, signaling a potential awakening after a tough April (.196/.281/.353 in 51 at-bats).
