Good Morning Mets fans!
Today, Jason Vargas(1-3, 9.87 ERA) will hope to improve upon his season stats as he’ll face off against Chase Anderson (4-3, 3.86 ERA) and the Brewers. Vargas had his best start of the season last time out, pitching five scoreless innings. The game can be viewed on SNY and 710WOR at 4:10 p.m.
Last night, Noah Syndergaard struggled through the first three innings, but made adjustments and dominated the final three frames. Amed Rosario and Michael Conforto both homered against Junior Guerra to make it a one-run game. In the ninth, Jose Bautista singled in Conforto to tie the game, but AJ Ramos walked in the game-winning run to grant the Brewers a 4-3 victory.
Below is the 11th episode of the Mets Matters podcast with Justin Fried and Josh Finkelstein. In this episode, they discuss the lineup’s struggles, the outfield/first base situation that could develop in the coming weeks when Yoenis Cespedes returns, and the state of the rotation.
