Jacob deGrom started for the Mets yesterday and was absolutely fantastic.

The right-hander went seven innings and allowed zero runs while only giving up four hits and two walks. He also struck out ten batters on the night and threw only 97 pitches.

However, deGrom did not receive the win for his efforts last night as the Mets bullpen blew the game late with AJ Ramos, Jerry Blevins, and Jeurys Familia combining to allow four runs in the eighth and ninth innings. The Mets lost 4-3 while deGrom received a no-decision despite leaving the game with a 3-0 lead.

The 29-year old, deGrom has been fantastic to start the season as he has a 2.53 ERA so far to go along with a 2-0 record and 40 strikeouts in only 32 innings pitched.

It could be argued that those stats should be even better as he likely should have received wins both last night and on Monday, which he instead received no decisions for as a result of bullpen implosions.

Unfortunately, his stat line, while still very good, is not where it could be had the bullpen been able to finish the job for both outings.

It was another tough no-decision for deGrom, but he will make his next start on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals, who he made his season debut and received his first win against on March 31

Meanwhile, the Mets will send Zack Wheeler to the mound to try and secure a split in the finale of this four-game series with the Atlanta Braves.
