Sandy Alderson has said that the Mets will not trade Matt Harvey after listening to Mickey Callaway‘s and Dave Eiland‘s recommendations according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

This comes a day after Harvey was connected to multiple teams; namely the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles.

Unless things change, the 28-year-old will get one more season in Queens to get things back on track before hitting free agency.

Matt Harvey has been the most mentioned name so far among potential trade candidates on the Mets. In addition to the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles, the Chicago Cubs have expressed interest in Harvey as Andy Martino of SNY notes. Furthermore the Seattle Mariners joined the conversation on Monday afternoon.

The story really starts on Saturday as it was known that the Mets were willing to trade any of their starting pitchers not named Noah Syndergaard or Jacob deGrom according to Marc Carig of Newsday.

On Sunday we learned that the Mets were talking to two teams about flipping Harvey for a reliever. The Rangers and Orioles were then first teams that we knew of which possessed interested in Harvey.

Former Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen still has faith that Harvey can turn things around. At least two teams have heard from Warthen saying that a Harvey trade would be a wise gamble according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News.

One of those teams was the Rangers.

On Monday, deals between the Rangers and Mets were discussed according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Different players came up in the talks and specifically speaking, a straight-up deal for Jurickson Profar had been mentioned. However, the talks were not extensive and a deal doesn’t look close right now.

The Orioles had discussed trading a reliever to the Mets for Harvey according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Rosenthal mentioned that reliever Brad Brach has similar arbitration projections ($5.2 million) compared to Harvey ($5.09 million) and Darren O’Day is owed $9 million each of the next two seasons which is not that far away from what Harvey will get paid.
