According to Jon Heyman for Fan Rag Sports, The Toronto Blue Jays are likely to hold onto third baseman Josh Donaldson this offseason. Barring the unlikely that the trade would help them improve in 2018.

Donaldson, 31, will be arbitration eligible for the final time this offseason and then becomes a free agent following the 2018 season.

Donaldson is currently slashing .254/.378/.519 with 17 doubles, 25 home runs and 64 RBI in 95 games this year. He missed time earlier in the season with a strained right calf.

The former Oakland Athletic won the American League MVP his first season with the Blue Jays in 2015 and finished fourth in the voting last season.

Third base could be the Mets biggest are of need this offseason after they’ve slashed only .257/.296/.403 collectively from that spot in 2017.

The top free agent options this offseason at third will be Mike Moustakas, Eduardo Nunez and Todd Frazier.
