The Mets look to get a run together when they come back from the All Star break, facing the Colorado Rockies. Both teams have announced their starters for the three game series and are as follows:
Friday: Jacob deGrom (9-3, 3.65 ERA) vs Jon Gray (2-0, 3.75 ERA)
Saturday: Seth Lugo (3-2, 4.59 ERA) vs Tyler Chatwood (6-10, 4.42 ERA)
Sunday: Steven Matz (2-2, 3.05 ERA) vs Jeff Hoffman (5-1, 4.15 ERA)
Jacob deGrom has won each of his last five starts and looks to help get the Mets back on track as he tends to do. He has held the Rockies in check during his career, as they have a combined .165/.206/.289 slash line against him. He has to be careful of only Carlos Gonzalez who is 3-for-7 with a home run and two walks against him.
Seth Lugo has pitched against the Rockies once, and allowed only a hit to Charlie Blackmon. Steven Matz, on the other hand, has been roughed up by Colorado. Current Rockies have hit a combined .429/.455/.571 (9-for-21) against him with three doubles but only one RBI.
The Mets have eaten up Jon Gray in his young career. The Mets have slashed .237/.308/.390 against him, inflating his ERA against them to 6.14 in three starts.
In five career starts against the Mets, Tyler Chatwood has gone 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. The Mets have never faced Jeff Hoffman.
