
Mets outfield prospect Brandon Nimmo has shed the protective boot off his injured left foot, but may still open the season on the DL, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
Nimmo, 22, was diagnosed with a partially torn tendon in his left foot last month. He is expected to begin the season in Triple-A Las Vegas and could make his MLB debut later this year if an opening arises on the big league roster.

The Mets announced today that outfield prospect Brandon Nimmo has a partial tendon tear in his left foot. He will be in a walking boot for for 10 days then will be reevaluated. He also received an anti-inflammatory injection from team doctors.
Nimmo is coming off a rough 2015 season in which he battled a knee injury and was hit in the face with a ball while playing for the Las Vegas 51’s. He played in a combined 104 games between the St. Lucie Mets, Binghamton Mets, and the 51’s, hitting .269/.362/.372 overall. He hit 16 doubles, four triples, five homeruns, and knocked in 25 runs.
The Mets drafted Nimmo as the 13th player overall in the 2011 draft out of Cheyenne Wyoming. He has hit .268/.381/.391 in 420 minor league games. He was recently ranked as the Mets number five prospect according to Baseball America.
