Second baseman Chase Utley has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers according to Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan. The deal is reportedly worth $7 million dollars.
A career .281/.365/.479 hitter, Utley had his worst season in 2015, batting just .212 with a .285 on-base and .629 OPS in 107 games for the Phillies and Dodgers.
Utley, 37, was responsible for the vicious and dirty take-out slide in Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets that broke the leg of shortstop Ruben Tejada.
Initially unapologetic until widespread outrage prompted him to call David Wright to express regret, Utley was given a two-game suspension that he has yet to serve, a punishment that many felt was far too light.
