According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Milwaukee Brewers have traded closer Francisco Rodriguez to the Detroit Tigers.
While the trade hasn’t been officially announced and the return hasn’t been confirmed, infielder Javier Betancourt‘s name has been floated around. He is 21 years old, and MLB.com has him ranked as the 11th best prospect in the Tigers’ system.
The Tigers are expected to take on all of K-Rod’s contract, which is $5.5M in 2016, and a $6M option in 2017 with a $2 million buyout.
The 33-year old K-Rod had a fantastic season for the Brewers, saving 38 games. In 57 innings, he struck out 62 batters and walked only 11, posting a 2.21 ERA and 0.860 WHIP.
