Update: Rosario will not play for the Aguilas this season. Rosters become MLB player heavy in November and they do not want to risk having him play.
The Mets top shortstop prospect Amed Rosario injured his wrist during the preseason workouts in the Dominican Winter League for the Aguilas Cibaenas. It is said to be a minor injury to the right wrist and he currently has a wrap on the hand.
Rosario also spent time this season on the disabled list with the St. Lucie Mets with a wrist injury that limited him to 105 games this year. That injury was said to be a wrist sprain that he felt during swinging a bat. He did finish the season playing two regular season games for the Binghamton Mets and started every game in the playoffs for them.
Rosario was ranked as MMO’s 6th best Mets prospect before the season and my 3rd best prospect in my midseason list. He hit a respectable .257/.307/.335 for St. Lucie this year while being one of the youngest players in the league and arguably the best defensive shortstop as well.
Amed was taken with the fifth overall pick in the Dominican Winter League draft earlier this offseason.
