DUDA SMASH! DUDA CRUSH!
First baseman Lucas Duda flexed his muscle with a huge power display that included a pair of three-run homers and a career-high six RBI in the Mets 12-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on Friday night.
The big guy has turned a corner after a 3-for-31 slump, going 5-for-9 in his last three games with three walks, three runs, three doubles, two homers and eight RBI.
As a reward, Terry Collins says he will get the start with a left-hander on the mound today!

9/25 – Lucas Duda Is Heating Up At The Right Time
In last night’s victory against the Red’s, Lucas Duda doubled twice and drove in two runs with a walk. It was another productive night for Duda who certainly appears to have broken out of his slump.
Over his past seven games, he’s batting .316 with four doubles and a home run. His home run was a two run blast against Masahiro Tanaka in the first game of the Subway Series, and it was a clear sign that his struggles since coming off of the disabled list were over.
Duda has belted a total of 22 home runs this year with 58 RBI and a .814 OPS. While his season hasn’t been quite as prolific as his excellent 30 home run campaign one year ago, it’s still been a great year for the Mets’ slugging first baseman.
He’s been incredibly streaky all year long, and it now looks like he’s getting hot at just the right time.
How dangerous would the Mets be in the playoffs if Duda catches fire? When he’s locked in at the plate, he’s capable of carrying the entire teams’ lineup with his tremendous raw power.
Even with the Mets recent skid, they are really starting to look like a team that nobody will want to face in October… Which we’ve been saying around here for months now.
