Las Vegas (58-44) 15, Reno 9

The 51’s offense exploded for nine runs in the 5th inning to take a commanding 14-6 lead that the bullpen would hold on to. Dilson Herrera had a great game going 3-4 with a walk, four RBI, three runs scored, and his 3rd homerun in AAA while moving to the 3rd slot in the lineup. Darrell Ceciliani returned to the lineup after coming off the disable list going 3-5 with a double and scored two runs.

Danny Muno was 3-5 with a walk, two RBI, stolen base, and scored three runs. Johnny Monell, Travis Taijeron, and Wilfredo Tovar each had two hits and combined to knock in five runs while scoring four. Taijeron is now hitting .321 with eleven walks and five RBI over his last ten games.

Matt Bowman struggled going only 3.1 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks while seeing his ERA to go to 5.32 for the year. Making his AAA debut Dario Alvarez relieved Bowman getting two outs to stranding a runner. Alvarez was promoted  earlier in the weekend after allowing just one hit in his last 8.2 innings for Binghamton. Vic Black pitched a scoreless 9th inning allowing just a walk, he threw 15 pitches with 7 for strikes. He is now scoreless in four of his last five appearances. Box Score

Binghamton (55-45) 8, Trenton 0

Seth Lugo continued his breakout season throwing 7 shutout innings allowing four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. He moved to 6-4 with a 3.20 ERA on the season, he has now given up just one earned run in his last 25 innings. Lugo was hitting 88-94 MPH with his fastball while mixing in his good curveball and changeup as he pounded the strike zone getting lots of weak contact. Here is video of his last strikeout. 

Jeff Walters made his return to Binghamton where he set the team record with 38 saves in 2013 going one scoreless inning allowing two singles. He was hitting 94/95 MPH on the radar gun and has now thrown 12 innings with 14 strikeouts on his comeback trail. Akeel Morris pitched a scoreless 9th inning, he has given up only one run over his last seven innings for Binghamton.

Outfielder Joe Benson led the B’Mets offesne going 2-4 with four RBI, two runs, and his 2nd Binghamton homerun. Travis d’Arnaud was 2-5 with a run scored while hitting 2nd and hitting in the DH slot. Brandon Nimmo was 2-5 with a run scored hitting in the 3 hole and playing center field. Gavin Cecchini was 1-4 with a walk, run scored, 20th double, and his 43rd RBI of the season. Box Score

Dayton 16, St. Lucie (49-50) 4

Casey Meisner struggled for the first time since being promoted lasting only 5 innings giving up seven runs (three earned) on nine hits (two HR’s) and four walks while striking out only one. His record fell to 2-3 with his ERA going to 2.83 for St. Lucie and 2.35 overall for the 2015 season. In his 2nd St. Lucie appearance Paul Paez gave up seven runs (four earned) in just two innings in relief. Kyle Regnault pitched the last 1.2 scoreless lowering his ERA to 1.77, he has given up just one run in last 13.2 innings.

Yeixon Ruiz was 4-5 with RBI, run scored, and his 3rd triple of the season. Phillip Evans was 2-3 with RBI, BB, two run scored, and his 11th double of the year but has three errors in the field. Dominic Smith and Jeff McNeil combined to go 0-9 on the night. Box Score

Savannah (52-47) 6, Greensboro 5

Michael Katz was 3-4 with four RBI, his third homerun for the Sand Gnats and his second in as many days. John Mora was 3-5 with run scored, 16th double,two stolen bases, and 50th RBI of the season, now slashing .276/.366/.430 with 45/58 BB/SO for the year. Wuilmer Becerra was 2-4 with a walk, run scored, and his 11th stolen base. Eudor Garcia was 1-5 with run scored extending his hitting streak to 8 games.

Casey Delgado moved to 4-3 with 3.90 ERA after going 5.2 innings giving up two runs on eight hits, three walks and two strikeouts. James Duff picked up his 12th save of the season despite giving up a two-out two-run homerun in the 9th inning to let the Grasshoppers shrink the lead to a single run. Box Score

Mahoning Valley 6, Brooklyn (19-16) 2

David Thompson was the offensive leader for the Cyclones who had only five hits and went 0-5 with RISP, he was 1-4 with his 4th double while knocking in his 10th run of the season. Vinny Siena was 1-4 with a run scored while William Fulmer was 1-3 with walk and run scored.

Andrew Church made the start and had his first rough outing of the year pitching 4.1 innings allowing four runs on nine hits and walking three with just two strikeouts. Luis Mateo made his 6th rehab appearance pitching two innings giving up his first run of the year on a hit and walk. In 10 innings he has given up just four hits and two walks compared to ten strikeouts. P.J. Conlon pitched a scoreless 8th inning with two strikeouts to extend his shutout streak to eight innings  to start his career. Box Score

Kingsport (16-15) 8, Elizabethtown 4

Patrick Mazeika was 2-4 with his 24th RBI (2nd in APP), three runs scored, and his league leading 12 double of the season. Dash Winningham went 2-4 with a run scored, he is hitting .280/.331/.483 on the season. Ivan Wilson was 1-4 with a double and run scored without striking out for the 2nd straight game. Kevin Kaczmarski was 0-5 ending his hitting streak at 16 games. Gregory Valencia was 2-4 with a run scored and three RBI, he has now hit safely in 9 of 10 games.

Nabil Crismatt picked up his 2nd win of the season pitching 5 innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts. Taylor Henry, 22nd round, pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first pro hold. Box Score

Over The Weekend

Mets 2nd round pick Desmond Lindsay made his professional debut on Saturday going 1-3 with a walk including a single in his first at bat. Matt Reynolds was also in the original lineup before the game was suspended in the 1st inning before he could bat and he was pinch hit for when the game resumed.

Las Vegas lost 8-5 on Saturday despite Travis Taijeron hitting two homeruns giving him 17 on the season for the 51’s. Here is the video of the second homerun.

Binghamton lost 3-0 on Saturday when the offense could muster only two hits with Gavin Cecchini and TDA producing a single each. Rainy Lara pitched a complete game giving up three runs.

Brooklyn Cylones won 2-1 with only two hits from the offense while Gaby Almonte picked up with the win with 6 scoreless innings. Alex Palsha picked up his 7th save of the season, he has not allowed a run in 14 innings this season.
