Bobby Parnell surrendered three runs in his first minor league rehab appearance since suffering a setback from Tommy John surgery three weeks ago.
According to Jeff Moore of Baseball Prospectus, Parnell’s fastball was sitting at 90-92 MPH. Moore also tweeted that Parrnell was hit hard and lacked command on both his fastball and breaking pitches.

Buddy Carlyle left yesterday’s game due to back stiffness, but he is not sure how long the issue will keep him out for. (Adam Rubin)
“I have no idea,” Carlyle said. “It’s just a little bit of spasms. It just locked up right there.”
“My back just kind of tightened up a little bit,” Carlyle said.
Carlyle has a 5.87 ERA through 7.2 innings this year, but he owns a solid 1.08 WHIP and has yet to walk a batter.

Rubin also reported that Rafael Montero is still feeling something in shoulder, so his recovery is on the slow track.
This disappointing news for Montero, who seemed like he was just starting to come into his own right before the injury.
In 10 innings this season, Montero has struck out 13 batters and has a 4.50 ERA.
