Terry Collins said that there has been a slight change of plans and instead of Ruben Tejada going back to St. Lucie, he is instead headed to New York where he will be examined by Mets doctors.
As I reported in an earlier post, Tejada pulled himself from a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo last night in the third inning.

The news from Buffalo traveled quickly after shortstop Ruben Tejada who was on a rehab assignment for the Mets Triple-A affiliate, pulled himself out of the Bisons game with tightness in his strained right quadriceps tightness.
Terry Collins spoke about it after last night’s loss to the Nationals and said,
“I just know his leg tightened up on him. He was afraid to run. So he took himself out of the game,” Collins said. “So he’s probably headed back to Florida.”
The 22-year old Tejada was slated to only play seven innings in what was his second rehab game, but was replaced by a pinch hitter in the top of the third inning. He is now on his way back to the Mets complex in St. Lucie where he will be re-examined and a new strategy for his return will be mapped out.
The setback comes on the heels of some shoddy play at shortstop for the Mets in the last few days who have been playing musical chairs at the position since Tejada first went down on May 7th. This latest setback may force the Mets to seek help elsewhere, especially if someone doesn’t step up in the next few days.
Before this happened, the news was that Tejada would be activated in time for the Subway Series that begins on Friday, now his status is up in the air with no timetable for his return.
This sucks.
