While Alex Cora reportedly interviewed with the Mets Tuesday, there is a strong chance he will end up in New England.

After Cora interviewed with Boston’s president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski Sunday, a source told Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Dia there is a 99.9 percent chance Cora will be the next manager of the Red Sox.

“They want him for the job. That post is for him,” the source said. “Alex is very beloved there. And he would love to run Boston. They want to make the fast decision.”

The former Mets infielder is currently the bench coach for the Houston Astros, having held the position for one year.

The 42-year-old played for New York in 2009 and 2010, after having won a championship with Boston in 2007.

This post will be updated when more news on Cora pours in.
