3 Up

 1.  Bart Throws Up 0’s

Where would the Mets be without Bartolo Colon? Colon, who is now 14-7 on the year, threw seven fantastic innings of three-hit ball, allowing no runs. In eight of his last nine starts, Colon has pitched at least six innings. He’s won five of his last six decisions dating back to August 1st, while having an ERA of 2.21 during that time frame.

2.  Grandyman

If it wasn’t for Curtis Granderson, the Mets probably wouldn’t have finished this weekend with a sweep of the Twins. Granderson became the first Met to homer twice in extra innings, once to tie it, and then again to win it. It was his 27th and 28th home runs of the season, and his second walk-off of the year.

3.  Rivera Keeps Hitting

We all knew T.J. Rivera could hit down in the minors, and so far it has translated for him in the major leagues. Rivera collected six more hits this weekend, including his second home run of his career in the season finale. In 61 at bats this year Rivera is batting .344 with two HR and seven RBI.

3 Down

 1.  DeGrom’s Season Over

Just as the Mets were getting ready to welcome Jacob deGrom back with open arms to pitch on Sunday afternoon, word got out on Saturday afternoon, that deGrom would be getting surgery on his right elbow due to issues with his ulnar nerve, likely ending his season. This is devastating news as the Mets continue to make their push towards the playoffs.

2.  Bruce Continues to Struggle

Mets fan are wondering if they will ever get to see the Jay Bruce that hit 25 HR and 80 RBI for the first three months of the season. So far, it doesn’t look like it. Bruce went hitless in eight at-bats this weekend, while getting the day off on Sunday. He now has three hits in his last 33 at bats.

3.  Flores Still Sidelined

Four days after he received a cortisone shot for his ailing right wrist, Wilmer Flores was unable to swing a baseball bat. While T.J. Rivera has filled in nicely in his absence, the Mets will desperately need Flores’s bat to make a serious run in the playoffs. What originally looked like a couple of days, could turn into weeks.
