Brandon Pfaadt (0-0, 2.13 ERA) vs. Ranger Suárez (1-0, 0.64 ERA)

Two days in a row with a Game 7!

After the Texas Rangers beat the Houston Astros in the American League Championship’s Game 7, the NL finalists take their turn.

Ranger Suárez has been lights out for the Phillies in short bursts this postseason, allowing just one run over three starts and 14 innings. He’ll get the start, but he’ll presumably on a short leash, as he has for much of this postseason, with Game 7 on the line.

He’ll toe off against unheralded Brandon Pfaadt, who has pieced together a 2.13 ERA over 12.2 innings and three starts this postseason. He posted a 5.72 ERA in the regular season and has been a pleasant surprise aiding the Diamondbacks’ weaker rotation along. He, too, will be on a short leash.

Game 7s are fun because it poses the question if any of a team’s high-end starters would enter at any point. Zack Wheeler and Zac Gallen both pitched on Saturday, and the World Series doesn’t start until Friday. Could they offer an inning or two if called upon? Some of the most tense postseason moments come when top-line starters like Wheeler and Gallen go the extra mile.

Should be a fun one!
