The Arizona Fall League is one week past the midway point. The Glendale Desert Dogs (Mets’ affiliate) struggled last week, losing four of six games. They were on a four-game losing streak before their 5-4 win over the Salt River Rafters on Oct. 30.

The Desert Dogs fell to 10-14 after their tough week of games. They sit in fourth place in the standings, half a game ahead of the last-place Mesa Solar Soxs, and five games behind the first-place Surprise Saguaros.

While first place may be out of reach, the Dogs can still make a run toward third or second place in the standings. They have seven games left until the playoffs begin.

Below are the compiled stats from the Mets prospects last week.

Offensive Prospects

Kevin Parada1-for-17, 2 RBI, HR

Kevin Parada’s fall league struggles continued last week. He recorded one hit in 17 at-bats, dropping his slash line to .169/.210/.373 with the Desert Dogs. Parada’s one hit was a homer.

JT Schwartz0-for-9

JT Schwartz fell back down to earth this last week. After slashing .349/.383/.628 at the midway point, Schwartz went o-for-9 and dropped his season average to .288.

Rowdey Jordan1-for-7, BB

Rowdey Jordan had another lackluster performance last week. He went 1-for-7 with a single and a walk. While Jordan’s numbers aren’t eye-popping, he has been getting on base frequently and boasts a .386 on-base percentage.

D’Andre Smith5-for-11, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB

D’Andre Smith picked up his play last weekend for the Desert Dogs. He went 5-for-11 with a double, two runs scored, two runs driven in, and a walk. The 22-year-old reached Single-A last season and it’s nice to see him make positive strides in the AFL.

Pitching Prospects

Trey McLoughlin1 IP, K

Trey McLoughlin’s scoreless streak continued last week. He only pitched one inning, but he struck out one batter and didn’t allow a base runner. McLoughlin lowered his WHIP to 1.05.

Brendan Hardy1 IP, 2 R, BB

Brendan Hardy had another rough outing last week. He gave two runs and a walk in one inning, raising his ERA to 7.71 in the AFL.

Nolan Clenney2 IP, R, 3 K, BB

Nolan Clenney continued to make strides in the AFL last week. He struck out three batters in two innings, lowering his ERA to 1.29. Clenney has been impressive on the mound in Arizona and has a 12.9 K/9 rate.

Tyler Thomas2 1/3 IP, 2 K, BB

Tyler Thomas had a nice week for the Desert Dogs. He pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 3.12. Thomas also picked up two more strikeouts, raising his total to 12 in 8 2/3 innings.

Jordan Geber4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 6 K

Jordan Geber had a breakthrough start for the Desert Dogs last week. He struck out six batters and allowed one run on five hits across four innings. His ERA is still sits at 5.40, but the outing was a step in the right direction.

This Week (Oct. 31 – Nov. 4)

The Desert Dogs have three more games until the AFL home run derby on Nov. 4 and the Fall-Star Game on Nov. 5. The Derby participants and 2023 Fall-Stars haven’t been announced yet.
