Resurrected by Topps in 2011, Gypsy Queen was a well-known cigarette brand that included cards distributed by a tobacco manufacturer from New York named Goodwin & Company. Made to resemble the old cigarette cards from the late 19th century, Topps Gypsy Queen has begun to move away from the designs from the original sets that served as their inspiration and is using more original and contemporary designs.
Set for release on May 20th, the 2022 Topps Gypsy Queen release is a 320-card set that, the card design combines the old 19th century feel mixed with early 20th century features such as the player’s name in a cipher wheel and the team name on a carnival ticket.
Unlike its forebearers, the Topps Gypsy Queen release is strictly baseball and features player pictures that are painted instead of photographs. The set includes short-printed cards of retired stars, numerous Jackie Robinson Day photo variations, as well as certified autographs and relic cards.
The set also includes a sizable Mets team set with several parallels and nearly a dozen different autographs of former and current Mets.
