The New York Mets have released their 2021 schedule on Thursday afternoon. While there is a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty surrounding this year, the ’21 schedule is tentatively set with Opening Day on April 1 and hopefully the full return of baseball.

The schedule begins with two weeks’ worth of division games. The first 13 contests will pit the Mets against divisional foes, seven of which will be against the Phillies. In total, 17 of 25 games will be against division opponents. Games against the Cubs, Rockies, and two home contests vs. Boston are also in the opening month.

From April 30-May 23, the Mets will mostly be away from Citi Field. 15 of 20 games will be on the road in that time frame. The only home contests will be against Arizona and Baltimore.

When the calendar turns to June, the Mets will be in the midst of another road swing of eight games. Two series will take place out west (Arizona and San Diego). The road trip wraps up with two games in Baltimore.

Upon returning to New York, 13 of the next 16 games will be at Citi Field with series against the Padres, Cubs, and Braves. Leading into the All-Star Break in July, the Mets will have road series against Atlanta and the Yankees followed by two home series against NL Central opponents.

Out of the break, the Mets will have a fairly even distribution of home games (37) to road games (34). Among the notables are seven meetings in two weeks against the Dodgers in August.

However, perhaps the most anticipated series will be when the Yankees return to Citi for a weekend set. The middle game of that series will be played on September 11th. It will be the first time the two teams have played each other on 9/11.

The stretch run sees a six-game home stretch against the Cardinals and Phillies then a road heavy close. Three of the last four series (Boston, Atlanta, Milwaukee) will be on the road. The lone home series will be against Miami.
