2013 draft

Metsmerized Online will be on hand in Secaucus, NJ for the first two rounds of the 2015 First Year Player Draft which begins Monday night at 7:00 PM and runs through Wednesday.

The New York Mets will not have a first round selection or the accompanying slot money this year, as both were forfeited when they signed free agent outfielder Michael Cuddyer in the offseason.

According to Baseball America, the Mets will have just $3.6 million to spend in this year’s draft, an MLB low.

The Mets will make their first selection in the second round of the draft, the 53rd overall pick.

This is the first draft during Sandy Alderson’s tenure as General Manager that the Mets do not have a first round pick.

Previous  first round picks under Alderson have been Brandon NimmoGavin CecchiniDominic Smith and Michael Conforto.

The last time the Mets did not pick in the first round was in 2009 when Omar Minaya signed free agent closer Francisco Rodriguez. However Minaya selected LHP Steven Matz with his second round pick that year.

Draft Coverage begins tonight at 7:00 PM ET on MLB Network and it will be streamed for free on MLB.com.
