Last year, my predictions were way off – at least as far as New York Met predictions. Almost every Met spent part of the year on the disabled list, and we all know the disaster that followed. This year, instead of making predictions, I will make “projections”. I am no Nostradamus, so I will leave the predicting to the experts. These projections are how I expect the season to go based the information available right now.
I expect the National League to be tight all year. I believe up to eight teams will still be in playoff contention coming down to the last week or two of the season. Unfortunetly, I don’t expect the Mets to make the playoffs this year – but if the Braves or Phillies have some injuries, and most of the players the Mets are counting on come through – its definitly possible. There should be some exciting baseball this year – the strong teams have strong, and it seems like almost every team has improved from last year.
Atlanta will return to the playoffs this year with strong pitching – and the Albert Pujols will again lead his team to the postseason – but both will ultimately fall. The Phillies will again take the East, but will falter in the League Championship series against the Dodgers.
