Caribes de Anzoategui 7 – 5 Tiburones de La Guaira
Aguilas del Zulia 6 – 3 Tigres de Aragua
- C Jose Garcia: 1-for-4, 2 K
Continued struggles for regular starting catcher Carlos Garay (.136 AVG/.345 OPS) has opened up more opportunities for the lefty hitting Garcia as he started for the third time in the last four games for the Tigres last night. In those three starts, Garcia is 4-for-12 with a double with ten of those ABs coming against right handed pitchers.
Navegantes del Magallanes 5 – 4 Cardenales de Lara
- RF Wuilmer Becerra: 0-for-3, R, RBI(2), K
Becerra received a clean bill of health and returned to the lineup last night for the Navegantes. While he didn’t register a hit, he did have himself an active night scoring once and driving in a run. In the top of the second inning, he reached on a fielding error by the Cardenales shortstop and came around to score two batters later. In the top of the sixth inning, Becerra came up to bat with the bases loaded and no outs and drove a ball deep enough into center field to allow the runner on third to tag up and score.
Dominican Winter League (LIDOM)
Leones del Escogido 2 – 1 Gigantes del Cibao
- 1B Joey Terdoslavich: 0-for-3, BB
- RF Jhoan Urena: 0-for-1, K
Tigres del Licey 1 – 0 Aguilas Cibaenas
- RHP Nabil Crismatt: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K, Win(1-0)
Crismatt was superb last night, retiring the first twelve batters of the game with six strikeouts. He finally allowed a base-runner in the top of the fifth inning when he walked the lead-off batter followed by a single to put runners on first and second with no outs. Crismatt would wiggle out of danger though with his seventh strikeout of the game and two weak infield pop-ups to end his night. Crismatt tossed 69 pitches(47 strikes) and was generally sitting between 88-90 mph with his fastball. His change-up is what had batters off balance all night long as it was displaying two plane break both down and away to left handed hitters.
Estrellas de Oriente 6 – 2 Toros del Este
- RHP Tim Peterson: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Peterson continues to overpower the LIDOM with his fifth scoreless appearance in six appearances. In those five games, Peterson has not allowed a hit, with only allowed one base runner reaching via a walk, and has struck out ten of the seventeen batters he has faced (58.8% K rate).
