Wilmer Flores Named To Baseball America’s Prospect Hot Sheet
For the first two weeks of the minor league season, the Mets were represented with a prospect cracking the Baseball America Hot Sheet. Last week it was Rafael Montero. This week, it’s Wilmer Flores. Both players were listed “In The Team Photo,” which is basically considered an honorable mention. As I stated in the Mets Minors Report earlier today, Flores is quietly having a nice season offensively. This fine hitting prospect seems like he has [...]

Mets Minors Report 4/19: Syndergaard Torched, Aderlin Homers For Third Straight Game
Last Night’s Quick Scores Savannah (7-7) dropped to Lakewood, 3-2 St. Lucie (9-5) droppedto Fort Myers, 11-8 Binghamton (8-6) topped New Hampshire, 4-3 Las Vegas (8-6) topped Sacramento, 10-6 Prospect Pipeline Brandon Nimmo cooled off a little last night, and had his first game without a hit in almost a week. He still leads the Mets organization in hitting with a .411 average. Travis d’Arnaud will miss some time with a fracture in his foot. Hopefully he won’t need [...]

Andrew Brown and Wilmer Flores Lead Offense in 51s 10-6 Victory
Las Vegas 10, Sacramento 6 On the mound, Darin Gorski got the start and had a decent outing. He fared much better than he had in his previous start, but finished just a third of an inning shy of getting a quality start. The lefty allowed three earned runs and struck out four, en route to his first win of the season. Gorski did not allow a walk in the game, which was a nice improvement [...]

He now has had a multi-hit game ten times this season. Travis d’Arnaud was pulled from last night’s game after being struck with a ball on [...]

Ruben Tejada Continues To Be Erratic At Shortstop
Replacing Jose Reyes was never going to be easy, but with Ruben Tejada’s fielding prowess if he could hit just a little that would be acceptable to the Mets. Perhaps that should read, “former fielding prowess.’’ Trouble is, he’s not hitting or fielding. He’s not even just holding his own; he’s been poor at both, actually terrible. Tejada has committed six errors in 13 games – a pace for just under 80 – and the Mets have already lost [...]

Quintanilla Delivers 3-2 Walk-Off Win, D’Arnaud Pulled After Taking Pitch On Ankle
Las Vegas 3, Sacramento 2 Carlos Torres gave the team five solid innings and held the River Rats to two runs on the night while striking out ten batters. He allowed eight base runners on seven hits and a walk. Torres left the game down 2-0, but the bullpen shut the door after that allowing the 51s to come back and win the game. Adam Kolarek, Greg Peavey, and Robert Carson combined for four shutout innings. [...]

Collin McHugh Solid, Hot Hitting From Juan Lagares Not Enough For Las Vegas
Las Vegas 1, Sacramento 2 The night did not start out so well for Collin McHugh, but the young righty buckled down and got out of a tough jam in the first inning. He gave up a leadoff single, followed by an error from Wilmer Flores, and an RBI single that gave the River Rats a 1-0 lead with runners on the corners and nobody out. McHugh, battled back and got the next three batters [...]

D’Arnaud Goes Deep, Schwinden Hammered, Vegas Blown Out 19-5
Colorado Springs 19, Las Vegas 5 Ouch. The Colorado Spring Sky Sox destroyed the Las Vegas 51s in Monday’s night affair, 19-5. Chris Schwinden got the start and struggled mightily – although it was not completely his fault. His final line says it all – 3.2 innings pitched with seven hits (two home runs) and four walks allowed. This all added up to eight runs allowed – although only four of them were earned. Schwinden [...]

Wheeler Bounces Back, Lagares and Hoffman Homer In Vegas Victory
Las Vegas 5, Colorado Springs 4 It took 11 innings, but the Las Vegas 51s were able to escape yesterday’s ballgame with a victory on the strength of a Reese Havens, bases loaded knock to win it in walk-off fashion. Top-prospect Zack Wheeler took the hill for the 51s and put together one of his more solid efforts in what has been a shaky start to the season. Wheeler went 5 1/3 innings allowing three [...]

Gorski Gets Rocked, Satin Stays Hot In 11-6 Vegas Loss
Colorado Springs 11, Las Vegas 6 In a game where the two teams combined for thirty hits, the Las Vegas 51s dropped this one to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 11-6. It was trouble out of the gate for Vegas in this one, as designated starter Darin Gorski was only able to last two innings in this late-night affair. Gorski struggled from the start, and faced all nine hitters in the Colorado Springs lineup in [...]

Upper Minors: Torres Ineffective In Vegas 6-1 Loss, Vaughn Explodes In B-Mets 15-7 Win
Colorado Springs 6, Las Vegas 1 Fans who attended Opening Night at Cashman Field Friday were treated to a dominant performance — just not from the home team. Behind seven strikeouts and only one earned run from former second-round pick Tyler Chatwood, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox downed the Las Vegas 51s, 6-1, in the team’s home opener. The 51s’ bats were non-existent for most of the night, including the first four innings. It wasn’t [...]
