The Mets drafted Dylan Owen in the 20th round of the 2007 draft out of Francis Marion University. Since then he has gradually worked his way up through the Mets system, receiving little fanfare, but pitching well. He has spent time at nearly every level of the Mets minor league chain, from Brooklyn to Buffalo. Last year he pitched almost all season at AAA Buffalo, making 20 GS and 5 relief appearances totaling 116.1 IP. […]
Welcome to the fifth installment of the official MMO 2012 Mets Top 20 Prospects list, featuring RHP Collin McHugh of the Binghamton Mets, at #16. When the Mets made McHugh their 18th round pick in the 2008 draft, they found a player of unusual quality at that point in the draft. McHugh has been remarkably consistent throughout his professional career, taking on the obstacles at each level and keeping his game moving forward in a positive way. With four […]
Mets pitching prospect Collin McHugh was kind enough to take some time out and answer a few questions for me for our MMO community. Collin is coming off a solid season that culminated with an impressive performance for Double-A Binghamton where he went 8-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 16 starts. The young right-hander is out in Arizona where he is presently playing for the Peoria Javelinas, along with seven other Mets farmhands, in the Arizona […]
Welcome to the 4th installment of the official MMO 2012 Mets Top 20 Prospects list. Today we bring you #17, LHP Juan Urbina. In the summer of 2009, as a 16-year-old living in Venezuela, Urbina was one of the most sought after International Free Agents on the market. The Mets managed to sign him away from a slew of other teams that were also interested in the young left-hander. In 2010 he made his stateside […]
Last June, the Mets selected RHP Michael Fulmer with the 44th overall pick in the MLB Draft. He was the supplemental first-round pick for the Yankees’ signing of Pedro Feliciano. Fulmer, 18, went 10-2 with a 0.72 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 68 innings for Deer Creek High School in his hometown of Edmond, OK. He was honored with the Ferguson Jenkins Award this year, presented to the top five high school baseball players in Oklahoma. Michael […]
I was able to interview Akeel last week and he was nice enough to answer some questions for our readers. This is what he had to say: Petey: First of all Akeel, congratulations on a terrific season in 2011. Your development over the last two seasons has been fun to watch and you have been making great progress. Thank you so much for sharing a little of your time. The readers at Mets Merized Online will […]
I recently conducted an interview with New York Mets pitcher Chris Schwinden who was kind enough to answer a few questions for me to share with our MMO community. Schwinny was totally cool and I hope you’ll leave him some nice comments. Enjoy! First of all Chris, congratulations on a terrific season in 2011! Anchoring the Bison’s rotation all year was quite an achievement, and of course being named to the mid-season AAA All-Star team was […]
Well here we go with the second installment of the Official MetsMerizedOnline 2012 Mets Top 20 Prospects list, featuring RHP Michael Fulmer of the GCL Mets, at #19. When the Mets made Fulmer their 1st round sandwich pick in the 2011 draft (44th overall), as compensation for losing Pedro Feliciano as a free-agent, many scouts said he would be a very tough sign due to a commitment to attend the University of Arkansas. The Mets […]
On Tuesday, September 27, the rock band Council will be performing live at Citi Field before the Mets take on the Cincinnati Reds.in the last night game of the 2011 season. Pat, Doug and Andy, the three brothers who make-up the band, were gracious enough to answer a few questions for me about their upcoming pre-game performance. Welcome to Mets Merized Online guys, why don’t you first tell us a bit about yourselves and your band… Well first our band is […]
