Jason Bay Has A Concussion

It just keeps getting better and better. Hat Tip To Seven Train To Shea. So as we step into this crucial home stand, we must now do it without Jason Bay. However some people may feel this is more of a blessing than a curse. Bay has not lived up to expectations at all this year and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts without him. I can only hope he gets [...]

Doug’s Dugout: How Many Managers Does Omar Get To Fire?

In Doug’s Dugout today we discuss: Firing Omar, R.A. Dickey, No-hitters, and other feeble thoughts:   First things first:  How many managers and hitting coaches, etc, does Omar Minaya get to fire?  The only reason he hasn’t fired Jerry Manuel after that odious West Coast “performance,” is he knows he is tethered at the hip with the Mets skipper.   So, what does he do?  Have meetings on the team’s day off pondering which coach should [...]

I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore…

I feel so weird this morning. You know that feeling you get when you just know something bad is going to happen, but you don’t know what it is? That’s how I feel about the Mets right now, and it’s something I can’t shake. I had a lot of hope for this season, and I’ve managed to stay about as optimistic about this season as any Mets fan possibly can. But hope is fading fast [...]

MetsMerized Player Of The Week! (Week 15)

Alright, 2-9 is definitely not the way the Mets wanted to finish that road trip and it was a tough watch for any Mets fan. I know times are getting hard and people are calling for blood to flow like the mighty river Nile. A friend of mine claimed that Carlos Beltran brought a curse with his return. However, I claim that it is the Castillo curse! We haven’t made the playoffs since his arrival! [...]

Will A Trade Make Sense This Year For The Mets?

In 2007, 2008 and now in 2010 the Mets needed to upgrade their team during the season by making a trade.  In 2007 the Mets needed to add a starter to the rotation.  They did not add a starting pitcher and wound up having an epic collapse.  The Mets didn’t end making trade as Omar would go onto say “nothing really made sense.”  The 2008 New York Mets desperately needed an arm in the bullpen, [...]

A Clash Of Opinions: Should I Cheer Or Should I Boo?

There is a lot of turmoil in Mets-tropolis.  R.A. Dickey was clashing with Jerry Manuel when the manager removed him from yesterday’s game.  The fans are clashing with the front office for not doing anything to improve the team.  What’s a blogger to do with all this clashing going on?  You guessed it.  It’s song parody time! Earlier today, Joe D took a song by Black Sheep and wrote a humorous piece about the approaching [...]

Barajas Heading To DL, Hessman Gets Nod Over Turner

The New York Mets have put catcher Rod Barajas on the 15-day disabled list and promoted infielder Mike Hessman from Triple-A. Barajas had an MRI exam Monday that showed a mild strain on his left side. The move was retroactive to Sunday. A Mets press release on Mike Hessman reads as follows: Hessman will join the team in time for their home game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night. Hessman hit .274 (68-248) [...]

Mets Source: “We Are Staying Put For Now”

I was about to post the news that everyone’s jobs are safe as far as the coaching staff goes as reported by MetsBlog and Kevin Burkhardt. I’m not sure if either were on the conference call or if they spoke with people who were on the conference call, but usually those two are as accurate as you can get when it comes to reporting Mets news. But then I read a post from Joe Janish from [...]

Oberkfell Deserves a Chance

We’ve reached the point in the season where I think we’re beginning to realize the 2010 Mets team as presently constructed are not a better team than Atlanta, Philadelphia, St. Louis, San Francisco, Colorado, San Diego and probably Los Angeles and Cincinnati. There isn’t 1 move that will make them better than more than 2 of those teams. Firing Jerry Manuel, Howard Johnson and whoever, is not making this team a realistic playoff contender. Could [...]

What Fruit, If Any, Will Today’s Meetings Bear?

“When you have a trip like this, you have to sit down and assess how you’re going to get it right. We’re not going to sit back.’’ – Omar Minaya Today is not a good day if you’re a Mets coach. After a 2-9 trip in which the general manager gave a vote of confidence to no coach, it is a day as a coach when you hope the phone doesn’t ring. Word is Minaya, [...]

Doo… Dah… Dippity…

Every now and then, my corny side rears it’s ugly head and you end up getting a silly post like this. But this is supposed to be fun, right? With the trade deadline only five days away, things are getting kind of dicey. Lee and Haren are already gone, but there’s still some solid choices out there for the Mets who could use a starter or a shut down reliever. The choice is yours, the [...]
