Another worrisome moment for the Mets in 2022, as Tylor Megill left Thursday night’s game with an apparent injury.

The Mets have announced that Megill left with right shoulder discomfort and he will have tests on Friday.

Megill, who just missed a month with bicep tendinitis, has only made one other start since returning off the injured list. That start came June 10 against the Angels, in which he tossed 3 1/3 innings allowing two runs and five hits while striking out four.

He appeared to have injured himself on the first pitch of an at-bat to Omar Narváez after walking the bases loaded.

Megill instantly called time after throwing the pitch and motioned to the trainers to come out and get him.

After his exit in the game, his ERA has jumped up to 5.01 on the season over 41 1/3 innings and nine starts. While the numbers don’t look pretty, Megill has been a huge presence in the rotation since the start of the 2022 season. His absence was certainly felt during the last month he was gone.

While it seems that Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom could be on the horizon, it is still never a good situation to lose a starting pitcher.

If he ends up back on the injured list, it would leave the Mets with Chris Bassitt, Carlos Carrasco, Taijuan Walker, David Peterson, and Trevor Williams in the rotation.
