<p>The New York Mets took on the Houston Astros at FITTEAM Ballpark in Palm Beach, Florida on Friday evening and lost 3-2 on a walk-off homer.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wachami01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Michael Wacha</a> had a solid outing on Friday where he went 2 1/3 innings, allowing five hits, one walk, and only one run. Despite giving up three two-out singles, the 28-year-old veteran held the Astros offense to one run. Wacha&#8217;s spring training ERA now stands at 1.17 after three outings.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ryan--000ryd&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryder Ryan</a> was the second pitcher to come in for the Mets where he faced one batter to end the 3rd.</p>

<h4><span style="color: #ff6600"><strong>Offense</strong></span></h4>

Nimmo was the only Met with two hits on the night, he has a 1.030 OPS this spring.</p>

<p>As we inch closer to the Mets pitchers and catchers reporting next month, the big group of us at MMO/MMN got our heads together to vote on the Mets 30 prospects heading into the 2020 season.</p>
<p>A group of 12 writers submitted their top 50 Mets prospects and from those sheets &#8211; with lots of discussion &#8211; came up with our top 30.</p>
<p>We are lucky enough at MMO/MMN to have writers that covered both the St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones on a daily basis in 2019. Also, had multiple writers that watched Binghamton and Syracuse games in person. In addition, we had writers that watched minor league spring training which helps put a face to names with some of the younger players in the system. That combined with MiLB.tv gives us lots of insight from actually seeing the players live.</p>
<p>Beyond watching as much as we can- we also talk to scouts, team personnel, and other talent evaluators to get their thoughts on players.</p>
<p>As far as the list goes, we don&#8217;t have a specific criteria that we look at for the placement of players. I would say we have a good mixture of writers in our group that evaluate players differently. For example, we had a really tough time with the order of prospects <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=allan-000mat&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matthew Allan</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=baty--000bre&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brett Baty</a></strong>, and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=viento000mar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mark Vientos</a></strong>. Age compared to level, ceiling/floor, and potential position were all factors in the discussion of these three.</p>
<p>Before we jump into the top 30 prospects on Friday, I&#8217;m going to mention a few names that didn&#8217;t make the list but were on personal top 30s:</p>
<p>OF <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mangum000jak&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jake Mangum</a></strong><br />

<p>I want to thank Jack Ramsey, John Sheridan, Alex Worth, Jacob Resnick, Dilip Sridhar, Matt Mancuso, Ernest Dove, Daniel Muras, Christopher Soto, Steve Schaeffler, Sam Lebowitz, Joseph Hill, and Roberto Correa in their help to compile our list.</p>
<p>Look out for the start of our countdown on Friday!</p>

<p>The 2019 Major League Rule 5 Draft has been completed, and despite some well grounded concerns, the New York Mets did not lose any players. This means the last time the Mets lost a player in the Rule 5 draft was 2015 when <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=bowmama01,bowman003mat&amp;search=Matt+Bowman&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matt Bowman</a></strong> was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals.</p>
<p>The Mets will keep <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=newton000she&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Shervyen Newton</a></strong>, who is regarded by <a href="https://m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=nym"><strong>MLB Pipeline</strong></a> as the eighth best prospect in the Mets farm system. There had been some concerns he could be drafted by a rebuilding team like the Detroit Tigers or Baltimore Orioles, but both franchises opted to go in another direction in the draft.</p>
<p>Likely, Newton dealing with injuries and having a down offensive year played into the decision for teams not to draft him. If Newton does rebound and breaks out this year, the Mets will have a much more difficult decision about whether or not to protect him next year.</p>
<p>With <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ryan--000ryd&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryder Ryan</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=blackh000mat&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matt Blackham</a></strong> also going undrafted, the Mets maintain their minor league bullpen depth. Both relievers generate a lot of movement on their pitches which has led to good strikeout numbers as well as some control issues. If they are able to better harness their pitches in 2020, they could prove to be impactful Major Leaguers either in 2020 or soon thereafter.</p>
<p>The Mets also held onto their catching depth with <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mazeik000pat&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Patrick Mazeika</a></strong> going undrafted. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gonzal000har&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Harol Gonzalez</a></strong> is also an interesting arm who has shown the ability to command all of his pitches making him a depth starter or an option for the long man in the bullpen. Overall, there were 11 players drafted including:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px">Detroit Tigers: RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=garcia003ron&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rony Garcia</a></strong> (Yankees) &amp; RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rucker000mic&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Michael Rucker</a></strong> (Cubs)<br />

<p>Congrats to those guys for having terrific seasons, but let&#8217;s take a look at a list that should be more important to the Mets&#8217; long-term outlook, their All-Prospect Team.</p>
<p>This list is not solely stat-based like the MiLB one; it is based on the Mets&#8217; top prospects at each position:</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff6600"><b>Position</b></span><strong><span style="color: #ff6600"> Players</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Catcher</strong>: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=alvare006fra&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Francisco Alvarez</a></strong> &#8211; Easy selection here as the 18-year-old hit .312/.407/.510 with 10 doubles, seven homers, and 26 RBI in his first 42 pro games. All them coming stateside between the GCL and Kingsport. He&#8217;s not just the Mets&#8217; best catching prospect; he&#8217;s one of the best in baseball, <a href="https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2019-top-100-prospects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>ranking No. 97</strong></a> in Baseball America&#8217;s Top 100 prospects. Ali Sanchez &#8211; recently added to the Mets 40-man roster &#8211; is their second best catching prospect.</li>
<li><strong>First Base: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mazeik000pat&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Patrick Mazeika</a></strong> </strong>&#8211; First base is not a strong spot in the Mets&#8217; system, though not a big issue with 2019 NL Rookie of the Year <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/alonspe01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pete Alonso</a></strong> expected to hold the fort for awhile (and don&#8217;t forget <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=smithdo02,smith-001dom&amp;search=Dominic+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dominic Smith</a></strong>&#8216;s MLB success in 2019). Mazeika is a catcher &#8211; a position that he worked hard to improve at in 2019 &#8211; but he played 53 games at first in 2019 and could see plenty of time there in Triple-A Syracuse next season as well. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=vasque002jer&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jeremy Vasquez</a></strong> gets props for his lifetime .364 OBP.</li>
<li><strong>Second Base</strong>: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=carpio000lui&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Luis Carpio</a></strong> &#8211; While the 22-year-old played a majority of his games in 2019 at second base, he also played shortstop, third base, and left field. His defense is solid at shortstop and would likely play more there if not for <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gimene000and&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Andres Gimenez</a></strong>. Despite showing very little power, Carpio had a 113 wRC+ in Double-A for Binghamton. The righty also doesn&#8217;t strike out much, only 17.8% this year. I know some of my collegaues at MMN will be mad I didn&#8217;t go <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=cortes001car,cortes000car&amp;search=Carlos+Cortes&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Carlos Cortes</a></strong> here, as the 2018 third round pick had a 119 wRC+ for St. Lucie in 2019.</li>
<li><strong>Third Base</strong>: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=baty--000bre&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brett Baty</a></strong> &#8211; The Mets&#8217; first-round pick in 2019 started his career off by slashing .234/.368/.452 while finishing the year in Brooklyn. The Mets also have the promising slugger <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=viento000mar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mark Vientos</a></strong> at third base. Both Baty (No. 2) and Vientos (No. 6) are among the Mets&#8217; top 10 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=palmer000jay&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jaylen Palmer</a></strong> is another player to keep an eye on here.</li>
<li><strong>Shortstop</strong>: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mauric000ron&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ronny Mauricio</a></strong> &#8211; He&#8217;s the Mets&#8217; top prospect and currently ranked No. 54 overall by BA. Of course he has <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gimene000and&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Andres Gimenez</a></strong> right behind him, the left-handed hitter who is coming off leading the Arizona Fall League with his .371 AVG and .999 OPS. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=lugo--000wil&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">William Lugo</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=reyes-002wil&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Wilmer Reyes</a></strong> are two toolsy youngsters to watch as well.</li>
<li><strong>Outfield</strong>: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=valdez000fre&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Freddy Valdez</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ramire010ale&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Alexander Ramirez</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=hernaad01,hernan004adr,hernan006adr,hernan005adr&amp;search=Adrian+Hernandez&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Adrian Hernandez</a></strong> &#8211; The Mets&#8217; outfield prospect depth is very weak at the upper levels after the trade of <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=keleni000jar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jarred Kelenic</a></strong>. The 17-year-old Valdez hit .274/.367/.448 in his first 60 pro games between DSL and GCL. The 16-year-old Ramirez signed for $2.1 million on July 2 out of the Dominican Republic. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mangum000jak&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jake Mangum</a></strong> &#8211; 2019 fourth rounder &#8211; is in the next group along with <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=brodey000qui&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Quinn Brodey</a></strong>. <p>Dibrell has been roughed up since his promotion to Binghamton. He pitched well through the first four frames, but faltered in the fifth. Overall, he didn&#8217;t strike out many Tigers but induced plenty of ground-balls. Excluding two times where he had to &#8220;open&#8221;, Ryan has a 2.00 ERA. With a quality fastball-slider combination, he could wind up in the Mets&#8217; pen as soon as next season. Villines has been lights-out since being sent back down to Binghamton.</p>

The Mets 2019 15th-rounder Ragan started the second game with three effective innings and a career-high five strikeouts before handing the ball off the bullpen. Biddy hurled two effective frames, but Mullenbach, who the Mets signed as an undrafted free agent, couldn&#8217;t finish out the game, allowing two runs in the final frame.</p>

<p>Starter <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gonzal000har&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Harol Gonzalez</a></strong> went 6.2 innings before reliever <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ryan--000ryd&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryder Ryan</a></strong> finished off the historic game with 2.1 innings of no-hit ball. The right-handers combined to face 28 batters. They struck out eight Senators (Washington Nationals&#8217; Double-A affiliate), whom entered the night with a league-best 23-7 record.</p>
<p>The right-handed Gonzalez threw 91 pitches with 57 of them for strikes and walked two batters.</p>
<p>Gonzalez lowered his season ERA to 2.88 in 25 innings this year. In that span, he&#8217;s allowed only 16 hits, six walks, and struck out 30. The 24-year-old did it all on Wednesday night as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI at the plate.</p>

He has a 6.23 ERA on the season, though most of that damage (16.62 ERA) has come when he was forced to be a spot starter twice already.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s the first no-hitter by a Mets affiliate since the Columbia Fireflies threw one on April 9, 2016 in their first franchise win. The last no-hitter by Binghamton came in 2006 by Miguel Pinango. The Rumble Ponies were no-hit earlier in the 2019 season by the Portland Sea Dogs.</p>

<p>The Mets currently have 5.87 ERA from their supposedly revamped bullpen, a number that is the fourth highest in baseball and only the Nationals&#8217; bullpen ERA of 8.01 is worse in the NL.</p>
<p>Aside from closer <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=diazed04,diazed03,diaz--005edw&amp;search=Edwin+Diaz&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Edwin Diaz</a></strong>, everyone in the Mets pen has struggled at times early on in 2019. Given that, let&#8217;s take a look at the options the Mets have in the upper levels of the minors that might be able to help.</p>
<h4><span style="color: #ff6600"><strong>Triple-A Syracuse </strong></span></h4>
<ul>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bashlty01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tyler Bashlor</a></strong> &#8211; 3.2 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 2 HR, 3 BB, 3 K &#8211; It&#8217;s been a struggled to start the season for the 26-year-old and that&#8217;s evident by the Mets recalling <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rhameja01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jacob Rhame</a></strong> over him, despite both being on the 40-man roster.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/caminar01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Arquimedes Caminero</a></strong> &#8211; 4.1 IP, H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K, 3 Saves &#8211; The veteran hard thrower hasn&#8217;t allowed a run yet this year, though he has struggled with his control. I&#8217;ve watched two of his outings, and his splitter was unhittable in both while pumping fastball up to 97 mph. He is not currently on the 40-man roster.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hanhoer01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eric Hanhold</a></strong> &#8211; 6 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K &#8211; The former starter came over to the Mets in return for <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/walkene01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Neil Walker</a></strong>. His stuff hasn&#8217;t been as consistent since suffering an oblique strain late last season that landed him on DL. He made is MLB debut last year with the Mets and is on the 40.</li>
<li>LHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/orourry01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryan O&#8217;Rourke</a></strong> 9.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 6 K &#8211; The 30-year-old has helped out Syracuse with a couple of multiple inning outings already. O&#8217;Rourke posted a 1.74 ERA in spring despite posting a 1.55 WHIP. As you can see, walks have been an issue. He&#8217;s another veteran that is not on the 40-man roster.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=taylor003cor&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Corey Taylor</a></strong> &#8211; 9.1 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K &#8211; The sinker/slider pitcher is another Syracuse reliever that has pitched multiple innings on several occasions this year. The former seventh round pick is not on the 40.</li>
<li>LHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zamorda01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Daniel Zamora</a></strong> &#8211; 5 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, 7 K &#8211; The funky lefty was very good last year for the Mets at the end of the season with 16 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA in his first nine big league innings. Lefties are 0-for-6 with three strikeouts against him to begin the season. He is on the 40-man roster.</li>
</ul>
<p>The Mets have been using both <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=wilsoju10,wilson004jus&amp;search=Justin+Wilson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Justin Wilson</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/avilalu01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Luis Avilan</a></strong> as crossover guys that can possibly go multiple innings giving Zamora a potential chance to help despite giving them three lefties. We&#8217;ve already seen <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rhameja01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jacob Rhame</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sewalpa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Paul Sewald</a></strong> get the call up from Syracuse.</p>
<p>Another name to consider is right-hander <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/colemca01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Casey Coleman</a></strong>. The former Royal has started two games this year, though his stuff likely plays much better in the pen. He threw six shutout innings this spring for the Mets after signing a minor league deal this offseason. He has pitched eight inning this year allowing three runs (3.38 ERA) while striking out eight.</p>
<p>He has been up to 95 mph with his fastball, curveball at 75-78 has been an out pitch, and his funky delivery makes him hard to time. However, he is not on the currently full Mets 40-man roster.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Following a strong spring in major league action for the Mets, Casey Coleman struck out 4 and allowed 1 run in 3 innings today for Syracuse. Hit 95 and as you can see has a good breaker. <a href="https://t.co/p7CGPf4Til">pic.twitter.com/p7CGPf4Til</a></p>

<h4><span style="color: #000080"><strong>Double-A Binghamton</strong></span></h4>
<ul>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=blackh000mat&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matt Blackham</a></strong> &#8211; 5.1 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 BB, 9 K &#8211; Blackham may be short but he brings it, with a fastball in the mid-90&#8217;s and a nasty knuckle-curve. His issue has always been control, but through 5.1 innings this year that has been the case. The 26-year-old has a career 12.4 K/9 innings while limiting hitters to only 103 hits in 161.2 innings.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=jones-001zac,jones-008zac&amp;search=Zack+Jones&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zack Jones</a></strong> &#8211; 4 IP, 2 H, 5 ER, 6 BB, 4 K &#8211; The former Twin has good stuff (mid-90&#8217;s fastball, sharp slider) but he&#8217;s had trouble with the strike zone. The former fourth rounder does have 281 strikeouts in 197 minor league innings.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=nogose000ste&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stephen Nogosek</a></strong> &#8211; 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, K &#8211; The final piece of the <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/reedad01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Addison Reed</a></strong> trade with Boston has struggled since joining the Mets organization.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ryan--000ryd&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryder Ryan</a></strong> &#8211; 3.1 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 BB, 2 K &#8211; People laughed when Ryan was acquired for <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bruceja01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jay Bruce</a></strong> in 2017, now he&#8217;s a legitimate MLB relief prospect. the 23-year-old posted a 3.57 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 10.0 K/9 during the 2018 season between St. Lucie and Binghamton. He rides his slider as a strikeout pitch.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=torres017jos&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joshua Torres</a></strong> &#8211; 4 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K &#8211; The short right-hander has pitched really well since the Mets scooped him up on a free agent deal in 2017. However, he&#8217;s a fly ball pitcher without a MLB strikeout pitch.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=uceta-000ado&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Adonis Uceta</a></strong> &#8211; 3.2 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 4 K &#8211; Uceta made a name for himself in 2017 when he posted a 1.51 ERA between three levels in 2017. Unfortunately, arm issues limited him to just 26 innings last year. The 24-year-old is known for his ability to use his changeup in any count.</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=villin000ste&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Steve Villines</a></strong> &#8211; 4.2 IP, H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K, 2 Saves &#8211; If you follow me on Twitter you know I have a soft spot for sidearmers, and even more so for ones with a career 13.1 K/9 in 98.2 minor league innings. His fastball is unlikely to touch 90 mph and he throws a frisbee breaking ball that has been tough on righties and lefties.</li>
<li>RHP Joseph Zanghi &#8211; 5. 2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 BB (2 IBB), 6 K &#8211; There&#8217;s quite a story behind the travels off Zanghi to this point. He was drafted by the Reds in 2015 out of Cumberland County College but never signed and an injury that didn&#8217;t allow him to swing forced him to the mound. The former catcher has a 2.40 ERA in 157 minor league innings and has allowed only five home runs in that span.</li>
</ul>
<p>None of the Binghamton relievers are currently on the Mets 40-man roster. I believe that likely changes before the years over with Villines, Blackham, and possibly Ryan making their debuts. Villines was in big league camp with the Mets this year and has been flat out dominant as a pro.</p>
<p>One bonus name I will add to this group is St. Lucie Mets reliever <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gillia000ryl&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ryley Gilliam</a></strong>. He was the Mets fifth round pick last year and was lauded by many as college arm that could move quick to the big leagues. The former Clemson closer has thrown 8.1 scoreless innings this year with zero walks and 12 strikeouts.</p>

</ul>
<p>It was a rough start last night for the Mets offense as each of the first seven batters struck out to start the game leading to a total of eleven strikeouts through the first five innings. The Mets would break through in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a two run home run from Travis Taijeron to cut the Red Wings lead to 4-2. The Mets would continue to chip away with a run in the top of the seventh inning on a bases loaded RBI single by Adeiny Hechavarria to pull within one. David Thompson would tie the game in the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run to left center field.</p>

</ul>
<p>With yesterday&#8217;s original scheduled starting pitcher, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gagnodr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Drew Gagnon</a></strong>, called up for service in Queens, Chris Mazza was promoted from (AA) Binghamton to make his first start of the year. Mazza only allowed a walk through his first 3.1 innings of work before hitting a batter and allowing two runs to score on three straight singles in the top of the fourth inning. Mazza would allow two more runs to score in the fifth inning on a home run by <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=raley-000luc&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Luke Raley</a></strong> after a fielding error by David Thompson and a errant throw by <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/e/espinda01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Danny Espinosa</a></strong> on a double play attempt. He would settle back in though with a 1-2-3 inning with 2 Ks in the sixth to end his night.</p>
<p>Daniel Zamora appeared in relief of Mazza and was superb, striking out three of the five batters he faced. Even though he faced three right handers during his appearance, Zamora would not be allowed to face the right handed <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rosarwi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Wilin Rosario</a></strong> as Eric Hanhold was summoned from the bullpen to face him with the score tied 4-4. The move did not work out though as Rosario launched an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to give the Red Wings a 5-4 lead. Hanhold would strike out the next two batters to finish his night but ended up taking the loss.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600">New Hampshire (6-7) 10, Binghamton (4-4) 4</span> <a href="https://www.milb.com/gameday/fisher-cats-vs-rumble-ponies/2019/04/17/571651#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=571651">Box Score</a></strong></p>

</ul>
<p>With the team down 4-0 after the top half of the third inning, Andres Gimenez would open the scoring for the Rumble Ponies with an RBI double to drive in <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hagger000sam&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sam Haggerty</a></strong> for his second RBI of the young season. The Ponies would tack on three more in the fourth inning, the first of which came on an RBI single by Kevin Kaczmarski driving in <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/alcanar01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Arismendy Alcantara</a></strong> from second base. The next batter, Braxton Lee, would follow up with a two run double to left field to bring home <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=pizzan000dar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dario Pizzano</a></strong> and Kaczmarski to tie the game up at 4-4. The Ponies offense would struggle to drive in runs the rest of the game as the team combined to go 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position the rest of the way.</p>

</ul>
<p>Peterson was a ground ball machine to start the game as he generated six straight ground ball outs to open up the game. Things unraveled in the third inning though as some of those ground-balls started finding holes. Peterson wasn&#8217;t helped by his defense either as a throwing error by Sam Haggerty and a fielding error by <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=palaci002jos&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joshua Palacios</a></strong> allowed two runs to score followed by both of those batters scoring on a two RBI single by <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=espina000san&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Santiago Espinal</a></strong> to give the Fisher Cats an early 4-0 lead. Peterson would pitch into the sixth inning before handing off an inherited runner to Ryder Ryan but the runner would score on a passed ball by Patrick Mazieka to tack on one more unearned run to Peterson&#8217;s ledger and give the Fisher Cats a 5-4 lead.</p>
<p>Zack Jones would follow Ryan, tossing a clean seventh inning, but, things would fall apart for him in the eighth inning. A single, two walks, and another defensive miscue on a fielder&#8217;s choice would allow a run to score leading to him being pulled with the bases loaded in favor of Matt Blackham. Unfortunately, the first batter he would face, Santiago Espinal, would clear the bases with a grand slam to left field extending the Fisher Cats lead to 10-4. Blackham would strike out five of the next seven batters he would face.</p>

<p>All of the St. Lucie scoring came in the bottom of the fourth inning with <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=lindsa000des&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Desmond Lindsay</a></strong> kicking things off with a one out solo home run to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. After two singles and walk loaded the bases, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=tiberi000bla&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Blake Tiberi</a></strong> would drive all three runners in with a double to left field to extend the lead to 4-0. Another walk would put two runners on for the rehabbing Todd Frazier who would proceed to launch one to deep left center field for a three run home run to cap off the scoring giving the Mets a 7-0 lead.</p>

<p>Wilson bounced back nicely from his poor start last time out, shutting out Fort Myers for five innings last night while allowing only four base-runners. Campos and Campusano both provided two innings of work each to close out a pretty easy victory for the Port St. Lucie team.</p>

<p>It was a strong season for the development of the New York Mes farm system, going from being ranked No. 27 to No. 19 according to Baseball America, one of the biggest jumps for any organization.</p>
<p>There are many reasons for the improvement, from acquiring prospects in trade (<strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kilome000fra&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Franklyn Kilome</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=toffey000wil&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Will Toffey</a></strong>), to pitchers finally pitching healthy full season (<strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kay---000ant&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Anthony Kay</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=peters012dav,peters007dav,peters009dav&amp;search=David+Peterson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">David Peterson</a></strong>), strong pro debuts for several players (<strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mauric000ron&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ronny Mauricio</a></strong>, Simeon Woods-Richardson, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=keleni000jar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jarred Kelenic</a></strong>) and even some breakouts from international signees (<strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=santan004lui,santan002lui&amp;search=Luis+Santana&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Luis Santana</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=newton000she&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Shervyen Newton</a></strong>).</p>
<p>Without further ado, here&#8217;s my 25-man roster All-Prospect Team:</p>
<ul>
<li>1B: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=alonso000pet&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Peter Alonso</a></strong> &#8211; This one is a no-brainer after having one of the best offensive seasons a Mets minor leaguers ever had.</li>
<li>2B: Luis Santana &#8211; This 19-year-old had a breakout season with a .917 OPS in his stateside debut while walking more (27) than he struck out (23)</li>
<li>SS: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gimene000and&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Andres Gimenez</a></strong> &#8211; Another obvious choice here for the Mets top prospect. He&#8217;s currently playing in the AFL at only 20. This is becoming a very strong position for the Mets with Mauricio and Santana at shortstop right now as well.</li>
<li>3B: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=viento000mar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Mark Vientos</a></strong> &#8211; Still only 18-years old and posted a .878 OPS for Kingsport this year with a solid 37 BB/43 K ratio.</li>
<li>OF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=keleni000jar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jarred Kelenic</a></strong> &#8211; The Mets first round pick from 2018 started his career off with a bang posting .839 OPS, 15 steals and 9 outfield assists.</li>
<li>OF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=adolph000ros&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ross Adolph</a></strong> &#8211; Another 2018 draft pick that came out hammering the ball, he has 9 doubles, 12 triples and 7 homers in only 61 games for the Brooklyn Cyclones.</li>
<li>OF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=medina015jos,medina013jos,medina014jos,medina018jos&amp;search=Jose+Medina&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jose Medina</a></strong> &#8211; Always been a favorite of mine given his all-around potential. Had a nice season in Brooklyn while cutting down on strikeouts.</li>
<li>C: Francisco Alvarez &#8211; Set a new Mets franchise record when he received a $2.7M IFA bonus this year. Offensive minded catcher with a good arm.</li>
</ul>
<p>As you can see, the Mets have some good infield prospects but the outfield is certainly on the weaker side.</p>
<ul>
<li>INF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mauric000ron&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ronny Mauricio</a></strong> &#8211; This 17-year-old would be the top shortstop prospect in a ton of organizations after completely skipping the DSL and finishing the Appalachian League.</li>
<li>INF: Shervyen Newton &#8211; Another talented teenager that plays shortstop, he posted a .408 OBP for Kingsport. Also played some second and third base.</li>
<li>OF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=hernaad01,hernan004adr,hernan005adr&amp;search=Adrian+Hernandez&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Adrian Hernandez</a></strong> &#8211; Given a $1.5M signing bonus last season and posted .736 OPS in pro debut at 17. Toolsy outfielder is likely to make come stateside in 2019.</li>
<li>C: Ali Sanchez &#8211; Defensive minded catcher that is currently playing in the AFL. Plenty of competition here for back-up catcher with some of our writers liking <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=manea-000sco&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Scott Manea</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=regnau000and&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Andres Regnault</a></strong> having a monster season.</li>
<li>INF: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=toffey000wil&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Will Toffey</a></strong> &#8211; The third baseman hit .254/.394/.433 in Double-A after coming to the Mets in the <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/familje01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jeurys Familia</a></strong> trade.</li>
</ul>
<p>Noticeably missing on the bench are a few guys that were hurt by not playing much in 2018, outfielder <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=lindsa000des&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Desmond Lindsay</a></strong> and infielder <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cecchga02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Gavin Cecchini</a></strong>.</p>
<div id="attachment_259414" style="width: 710px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-259414" class="size-full wp-image-259414" src="https://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/dunn-e1530701711296.jpg" alt="" width="700" height="413" /><p id="caption-attachment-259414" class="wp-caption-text"><strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=dunn--000jus&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Justin Dunn</a></strong> (Photo by Ed Delany/MMO</p></div>
<ul>
<li>SP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=dunn--000jus&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Justin Dunn</a></strong> (R) &#8211; The 2016 first rounder struck out 10.4 per nine innings this year and pitched better than his 4.22 ERA in Double-A would indicate (3.37 FIP).</li>
<li>SP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=peters012dav,peters007dav,peters009dav&amp;search=David+Peterson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">David Peterson</a></strong> (L) &#8211; Another first round pick that showed promise in 2018, his 64.5 groundball rate ranked third among all minor league starters (509) and his 0.14 HR/9 ranked fourth.</li>
<li>SP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kay---000ant&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Anthony Kay</a></strong> (L) &#8211; Made his pro debut with 4.26 ERA, 0.6 HR/9 and 9.0 K/9 in 122.2. Did struggle with his command (3.6 BB/9), but that&#8217;s not uncommon after <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/johnto01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tommy John</a></strong> and a long layoff.</li>
<li>SP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kilome000fra&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Franklyn Kilome</a></strong> (R) &#8211; Acquired in the deal for <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreas01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Asdrubal Cabrera</a></strong> and flashed well in AA with 4.03 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 4.20 SO/W in 38 innings. Was a top 100 prospect by Baseball Prospectus before the season.</li>
<li>SP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=szapuc000tho&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Thomas Szapucki</a></strong> (L) &#8211; Didn&#8217;t pitch a single inning this year following his recovery from TJS and he&#8217;s still on the team, his fastball/breaking ball combo is that good.</li>
</ul>
<p>Could go on with a few more names here as the Mets are building strong rotation depth in the upper and lower minors.</p>
<ul>
<li>RP: Simeon Woods-Richardson (R) &#8211; Okay, I&#8217;m cheating a little bit here because he will be a starter in 2019 after splitting roles this season. The 2018 second rounder had 26 K/4 BB ratio in his first pro innings. Oh yeah, he turned 18 a couple weeks ago and hit 99 MPH in pro debut.</li>
<li>RP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zamorda01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Daniel Zamora</a></strong> (L) &#8211; He had me hooked when I saw him pitch for Binghamton, his slider is a big league pitch and he hides the ball enough to be effective major league reliever.</li>
<li>RP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hanhoer01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Eric Hanhold</a></strong> (R) &#8211; Another guy that made me a believer after seeing swings against him. Bowling ball sinker in the mid-to-upper 90&#8217;s that is tough to lift.</li>
<li>RP: Stephen Villines (R) &#8211; This choice goes beyond my soft spot for sidearmers, the 23-year-old struck out 96 batters in only 66.2 innings while finishing in AA. He&#8217;s also allowed only 69 hits in 94 innings.</li>
<li>RP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gillia000ryl&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ryley Gilliam</a></strong> (R) &#8211; 2018 pick that was labeled as fast mover by draft gurus, struck out 31 batters in 17.1 innings in debut (though did come with 13 walks).</li>
<li>RP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bautige01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Gerson Bautista</a></strong> (R) &#8211; Potential still has the 23-year-old on my team, command was an issue this season (18 walks in 39.2) but he struck out 54 during that span in Triple-A. He&#8217;s currently pitching in AFL and has been using a lower velocity breaking ball, definitely something to keep an eye on.</li>
<li>RP: <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ryan--000ryd&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ryder Ryan</a></strong> (R) &#8211; All he&#8217;s done since the Mets acquired him for <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bruceja01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jay Bruce</a></strong> is post a 3.00 ERA, 1.02 and hold opponents to .195 AVG in 66 innings. Solid fastball/slider combo.</li>
</ul>
<p>There it is, and I still feel lit&#8217;s a shame for the likes of  <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=james-000chr&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Christian James</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=humphr000jor&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jordan Humphreys</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=dibrel000ton&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tony Dibrell</a></strong>, Freddy Valdez and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=consue001sta&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Stanley Consuegra</a></strong> couldn&#8217;t have fit in.</p>
<p>The Mets system is back on the upswing and Keith Law said earlier this offseason it could be a top 10 group soon.</p>

<h4>Las Vegas (71-69) 4, Sacramento (55-85) 3   <a href="https://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_09_03_srcaaa_lvgaaa_1&amp;t=g_box&amp;sid=milb">Box Score</a></h4>

</ul>
<p>Down 3-0 in the sixth, Las Vegas chipped away with RBIs by <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=plaia-000col&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Colton Plaia</a> </strong>and <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=borens000zac&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Zach Borenstein</a></strong> to make it 3-2. After Guillorme led off the bottom of the ninth with a triple, Alonso blasted a walkoff two-run homer, a fitting end to a monster season from Alonso as well as the last game ever for the Las Vegas 51s franchise. Kivlehan had a monster finish, hitting .371/.445/.928 from August 1 to the end of the season. Guillorme also finished off strong going 5 for his last 7, and should certainly be called back up to the Mets sometime soon.</p>
<ul>
<li>LHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/conlopj01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">P.J. Conlon</a> </strong>(4-9, 6.55 ERA): 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 6 K</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=taylor003cor&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Corey Taylor</a> </strong>(2-1, 4.26 ERA): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, K</li>
<li>LHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/baumabu01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Buddy Baumann</a> </strong>(1-0, 4.78 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K</li>
<li>RHP <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bautige01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Gerson Bautista</a> </strong>(W, 3-1, 5.22 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K</li>
</ul>
<p>In what was a tough year for Conlon, he finished off with a solid string of decent starts, capping it with last night&#8217;s quality start in which he didn&#8217;t walk a batter. It will be interesting to see if he&#8217;s used primarily as a starter or reliever next year. Taylor, who bounced between Las Vegas and Binghamton this year, had a very strong finish to his season. Baumann missed some time with injury and had a 6.04 ERA in 26 games for Las Vegas. Bautista was all over the place last night, which kind of describes his season as well, but he got through it without allowing a hit and was credited with the win after Alonso&#8217;s majestic blast.</p>
<p>The Mets&#8217; Triple-A affiliation will now move to Syracuse, where they will become the Syracuse Mets. Not only will this be a lot closer to New York, but it should provide a much more accurate representation of the players&#8217; skill levels.</p>
<h4><strong>Portland (63-76) 8, Binghamton (64-76) 7 F/10</strong> <strong><a href="https://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_09_03_prtaax_binaax_1&amp;t=g_box&amp;sid=milb">Box Score</a></strong></h4>

<p>Toffey had a nice end to his season. The Mets stuck a guy with a sub-.400 slugging percentage at A-ball into the Binghamton lineup. Depending on his spring, he could see a move to Syracuse but he is also likely getting shoulder surgery this offseason. The power was a nice surprise and so was his plate discipline.</p>

<li>RHP Stephen Villines (1-0, 3.18 ERA): 1 IP, 2 K</li>

</ul>
<p>Dunn&#8217;s final ERA at Binghamton looks bad but it&#8217;s largely inflated from his final three starts. Even in those starts, he managed to strikeout his share of hitters, something that could not be said from last year. He definitely showed signs of being tired towards the end of 2018 which is large in part to him throwing 40 more innings this year as opposed to last. Point being, don&#8217;t ket the 4.22 ERA distract you from the real progress Dunn has made this season.</p>
<h4><strong>Augusta (67-70) 3, Columbia (64-70) 2 <a href="https://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_09_03_colafx_augafx_1&amp;t=g_box&amp;sid=milb">Box Score</a></strong></h4>

</ul>
<p>Winaker quietly had a really good season in a hitter&#8217;s death valley. He slashed .319/.418/.638 in August and his season has largely been weighed down by a poor start if anything. He&#8217;ll probably need to play like at about the same level in St. Lucie to gain some looks on the prospect lists.</p>

<p>Not the most exciting pitchers but Grotz may have been an interesting find in the Indy league. Regardless, the roster should be more fun to follow given the talent in their short season rosters that should move up to Columbia.</p>

<p>The Cyclones were eliminated from the playoffs right before this game started. The pulled a lot of their starters but still managed to comeback and win this one. <strong><a href="https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=woodar000la-&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">L.A. </ul>
<p>Walker was a (small) over slot guy from 2017 and has gotten his share of strikeouts this season. Swarzak is in fact rehabbing and could be activated soon since there are no more minor league games left to rehab in. Mitchell is an old guy who needs to show more but his strikeouts have been encouraging.</p>
