Prospect Pipeline

• After hitting safely in eight of his last ten games, Matt Reynolds had an 0-for-4 night cooling his bat off a touch.  His batting average is now .330 on the season.
• Ryan Reid and Gonzalez Germen gave Las Vegas four shutout innings in relief on Monday, allowing just two hits while striking out a combined four in the loss against Albuquerque.
• L.J. Mazzilli and Jared King each drove in a pair for St. Lucie, but the Mets would lose to Bradenton 5-4.
• Daisuke Matsuzaka threw three scoreless innings as he tries to work himself back to the majors.  Matsuzaka allowed one hit with three strikeouts in his body of work on Monday night.
• After a 4-for-4 night on Sunday, Yeixon Ruiz followed that up with a 2-for-5, with a triple, home run, and two runs scored.
• Matt Oberste is now 0-for-8 in his last two games after snapping a four-game hit streak. His average dipped to .293 on the year.
• Champ Stuart had a walk-off sac-fly in the bottom of the 10th inning for Savannah as they defeated Asheville 4-3.
• Catcher Tomas Nido hit his first home run of the season for Brooklyn, and went 3-for-4 and additionally scored two runs.
• Amed Rosario had a decent night at the plate on Sunday, but Monday would be a different story. Rosario was 0-for-4 with a walk.
• Michael Conforto added a RBI to his season total (12).  His 2-for-5 night for the Cyclones brings his average to .307 in his first professional season.
• Paul Paez threw three innings in relief on Monday to pick up his first win for the Sand Gnats.
• Zach Mathieu has now hit safely in nine of his last ten games, adding a 2-for-4 night at the plate for Kingsport.
• Make that seven!  The Brooklyn Cyclones Jhoan Urena is now working on a seven game hit streak.  Urena went 3-for-5, and now has 11 hits during this streak.

• Noah Syndergaard was off target as he threw five innings, allowing four runs (two earned), walking four and striking out four batters. Thor dropped his record to 8-6, with the loss. In his last ten starts he is 3-2, with a 5.13 ERA, allowing 68 hits in 52.2 innings while striking out 54 batters.
• In his first appearance for the 51s since his promotion, Jack Leathersich tossed 1/3 of an inning allowing a run on two hits.
• Matt den Dekker finished 2 for 3, with two doubles, a walk and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games. He also has seven multi-hit games in that span.
• Matt Reynolds was 2 for 4 and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games and seven multi-games in that span.
• Kevin Plawecki doubled in four at bats and scored a run.
• Cesar Puello doubled and finished 2 for 3, with a run scored and an RBI. He is 6 for 14, with three doubles and five RBI’s in his last four games batting .429 in that span.

• Rafael Montero (6-3, 3.28) threw eight shutout innings, allowing only one hit, two walks and struck out 11 batters. In his last two starts he has not allowed a run in 14.2 innings, allowing just four hits and recording 17 strikeouts.
• Chase Bradford closed the door on Montero’s one hit gem, by quickly striking out the side in the ninth to record his third save for Vegas. Bradford struck out the side with only 10 pitches.
• Matt den Dekker singled in his first at bat and scored the 51s first run on a Sac Fl by Allan Dykstra and finished 2 for 4, with a run scored and a walk and now has hit safely in nine of last ten games batting .436 (17 for 39) in that span.
• Matt Reynolds singled in three at bats and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games with seven multi-hit games in the span.
• Anthony Seratelli went 2 for 3, with a walk and two RBI’s and has hit safely in eight of his last ten games batting .419 (13 for 31).

• Cory Mazzoni tossed six innings, allowing one run on five hits, with five strikeouts to earn his second win for Vegas on the season.
• Matt Reynolds, who doubled in his second at bat to extend his current hitting streak to nine games, also launched his third Triple A home run on the season. He has seven multi-hit games in his last nine games and finished Sunday 4 for 5, run scored and three RBI’s.
• Andrew Brown launched his 18th home run on the season for Vegas.
• Anthony Seratelli was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, a double and a RBI in 51’s victory. He currently has seven game hit streak with four multi-hit games in the span.
• T.J. Rivera was hitless in four at bats to end his 10 game hit streak. In his last 10 games he is hitting .415 (17 for 41).

• John Gant, looking for his 11th win on the season, had to settle with a no decision. He tossed seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks, striking out eight batters.
• Akeel Morris threw 2/3 of an inning, walking one and striking out two to earn his 12th save of the season. Morris also has a 0.74 ERA.
• Michael Conforto hit his second home run in as many days, scoring the only run in Brooklyn’s loss. He finished 2 for 4 and is currently batting .364 (21 for 58) on the season.

Prospect Spotlight

Savannah’s John Gant was perfect through six innings on Sunday and finished the game allowing just one hit through seven innings, striking out eight batters and lowered his ERA to 2.55. This was the second time in three starts on the season that Gant flirted with a no-hitter through six innings. For the season the 6’3″ right hander is 10-5, with 102 K’s thru 113 innings.

• Binghamton loses final game to Trenton 7-3, to split series at two apiece.

• Noah Syndergaard tossed five innings, allowing two runs (1 earned) on five hits, walking two and struck out eight. Even though Thor threw a dominating game, he did not earn the victory. Miguel Socolovich gave up three runs (2 earned) in the top of the 7th inning, to temporarily put the Bees in the lead.
• Matt Reynolds launched a three-run shot over the left field fence in the 7th inning to put the 51s in the lead for good. Reynolds hit his first Triple A home run on Saturday, making it two straight days.
• T.J. Rivera singled on Sunday to extend his current hit streak to five games.  In his last ten games, Rivera is batting .395 (15 for 38), with two doubles and seven RBI’s.
• Rainy Lara (5-4, 4.98) gave up seven runs on 11 hits, giving up two home runs and only struck out one batter.  Lara has not won a decision since June 30, which dates back five starts including Sunday’s loss. In his last ten starts, he is 3-3, with a 5.68 ERA.
• Jeremy Hefner pitches three innings, allowing three runs on three hits, walking four and striking out four. This was Hefner’s first start with St. Lucie on his comeback trail from Tommy John surgery. He pitched in three games with the Gulf Coast Mets prior to Sunday’s start.

Prospect Injury Update

• Kevin Plawecki still has not returned to the 51s and hasn’t played since July 17th. Plawecki has been sidelined with a mild case of vertigo. According to Robert Brender, he caught in the bullpen yesterday for the 51s, a sign that he could be close to returning.

Center fielder Matt den Dekker, who suffered a fractured right wrist during a March 24 Grapefruit League game, is ready to get into games according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

Den Dekker was scheduled to DH in a back-field game in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Thursday until heavy rains forced a postponement. Den Dekker should be in the lineup today.
