Despite taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Syracuse was downed by Columbus 7-1. Ritter drove in the solo run in the top of the doubleheader, his ninth RBI of the week. Ritter has been on a tear since his slump in June. He has a six-game hit streak and has increased his average by 0.19 points over that span, not to mention his 1.012 OPS in July.

After returning to the organization after being DFA’d to clear room on the 40-man roster for the big league club’s trade deadline acquisitions, Shintaro Fujinami gave Syracuse two quality innings in relief. He notably did not allow a hit or walk in this appearance.

Syracuse was shut out in the night cap of their doubleheader on Saturday, losing 3-0 to the Clippers. Schwartz picked up two doubles, only his third and fourth extra-base hits since his promotion to Syracuse on July 11. DJ Stewart appeared in his first games for Syracuse since his demotion from the major league. He picked up a double and a walk.

For the second-straight game, Columbus scored all of its runs in one inning. This time, Jordan Geber was responsible, though his offense did not do him any favors. Orze and Gage combined for two innings, two baserunners, and four strikeouts. Gage has not allowed a run since coming to the Mets organization (six appearances).

Due to inclement weather, Saturday’s game between Binghamton and New Hampshire game was been postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday with Game 1 starting at 2:15 pm.

Due to rain, the Friday night game between Brooklyn and Aberdeen has to be suspended and finished on Saturday, followed by the scheduled initially Saturday game. Neither happened. The resumed Friday night match was called in the eighth inning on Saturday due to inclement weather, and game two has been pushed back to Sunday.

The Cyclones’ only run scored came on Saturday, a three-run homer from Omar De Los Santos; his seventh of the season in Brooklyn.

The stopping and starting did not help the Brooklyn staff, who used two frontline pitchers. De La Cruz and Thornton gave the Cyclones little length, throwing three innings and allowing earned runs.

Due to persistent rain, Saturday’s game between the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels and St. Lucie Mets was been postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday with Game 1 starting at 12:05 pm ET. Both games will be seven innings.

Both DSL teams won their matchups against their DSL Yankee counterparts. Mets Orange were led by C Yovanny Rodriguez who went 2-for-4, with a run, a double, and five RBIs. Mets Blue only collected four hits but scored the winning run via centerfielder Reneil Diaz’s RBI-single.

Propelled by a big game from Carlos Cortes, the Syracuse Mets beat SWB 7-4 on Saturday. A four-run fifth-inning put the Mets up 5-4 but then they allowed the game-tying run to score in the top of the eighth.

That’s when Cortes stepped up and launched his eighth long ball of the year, breaking the tie and ultimately giving Syracuse their fourth-straight win.

Tidwell did not have his best stuff Saturday and has gotten roughed up since his promotion to Triple-A in May. While his conventional ERA is at a shaky 5.35, his 7.77 FIP is even worse. Since coming to Syracuse, his K/9 has dropped significantly, while BB/9 and HR/9 have skyrocketed. Utility-man Justin Jarvis was much better for the Mets on Saturday, providing solid middle relief after starting his last outing on July 3.

In his second appearance since being traded from the Dodgers organization, Matt Gage inherited a first and third jam in the ninth inning and picked up the save without conceding a run. The Johnstown, New York native has an accumulative 3.97 ERA on the season, though he has not allowed a run while with Syracuse.

Binghamton beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4-0, their eighth win in a row. The Ponies are now 8-0 on the road in the second half of the season, primarily due to their high-powered offense. However, their pitching dominated Saturday’s matchup.

Behind Luis Moreno‘s seven scoreless innings, the Rumble Ponies offense put up four runs via a Jeremiah Jackson two-run homer and a New Hampshire throwing error.

His outing on Saturday was his best of the year and has been crucial to the success of the Binghamton staff as they continue to rack up wins.

The Cyclones struggled offensively again in their 3-2 loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Brooklyn collected only five hits, and their only runs came on a second-inning home run from Omar De Los Santos, who is not known for his power.

Along with De Los Santos and Paz, who collected two hits and two stolen bases, Wilfredo Lara was a bright spot for the Cyclones. With his two hits on Saturday, he has 11 in 11 games with a .871 OPS.

St. Lucie’s stacked lineup did not lead them to a victory on Saturday. The Mets added a handful of rehabbing prospects, namely Drew Gilbert, Jacob Reimer, and D’Andre Smith, but were shutout and only tallied three hits.

Gilbert and Reimer played six innings at centerfield and third base, respectively.

The Syracuse Mets ended up scoring 12 unanswered runs after starter Dom Hamel didn’t have his best day. Down 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Yolmer Sánchez hit a three-run home run to tie the game 4-4 in the top of the 4th inning. In the top of the 6th, José Iglesias would then give Syracuse a lead they would not relinquish with a two-run homer to put them up 6-4. He would strike again with another two-run home run in the top of the 7th inning to give Syracuse an 8-4 lead. It was the beginning of a seven-run 7th inning for the Mets. It featured a Rylan Bannon two-run home run, an RBI double from Sanchez and another RBI double from Acuña.

While Dom Hamel struggled by allowing seven hits and four earned runs, the Mets offense picked him up. The bullpen, led by the feel-good story Tyler Jay, also picked Hamel up. Jay earned the win on this day, his first for Syracuse. Jay has a 1.42 ERA in Triple-A. Jon Duplantier also pitched a scoreless inning.

Back on Coney Island, the Brooklyn Cyclones offense opened the floodgates early in the first inning with seven runs. RBI base hits from Stanley Consuegra, Nick Lorusso, and William Lugo gave Brooklyn a 5-0 lead. The seven-run inning culminated in an Omar De Los Santos blast one into Luna Park. His first of the season for the Cyclones. Brooklyn would score two more in the bottom of the 6th inning as Lorusso tripled to score Wilfredo Lara and Ryan Clifford. Speaking of Clifford, one of the two Mets acquired for Justin Verlander, he had a nice day with two hits and scored twice.

Jordany Ventura highlighted the Cyclones’ work on the mound. He threw almost four shutout innings with five strikeouts. He relieved starter Douglas Orellana, who, while he wasn’t able to qualify for a win, was solid with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings pitched in his first start for Brooklyn. Victor Castaneda couldn’t complete the shutout and gave up two earned runs in the top of the 9th inning on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. 

Low-A

Over at Clover Park, the St. Lucie Mets followed in what their Syracuse teammates did by pulling double-digits on their opponent. Eleven runs totaled on this day, highlighted by Christopher Suero, who crushed a two-run home run, his second of the season, to give the Mets a 6-0 lead. It was part of a four-RBI day for Suero. He hit a two-RBI single later in the game. Yohairo Cuevas, Diego Mosquera. and Nick Morabito also contributed with RBIs. Ronald Hernandez walked and scored on Suero’s RBI single. 

Coming off a hamate injury, Boston Baro made his season debut, going 1-for-3 with a walk, RBI and a run scored.

Brooklyn’s starting rotation evolved from one of its weakest areas over the course of the 2023 season to one of its strongest. Few of those players remain at the High-A level to start the 2024 season, but the new crop of talent possesses high upside.

Calvin Ziegler, a second-round pick in the 2021 Draft, pitched just one inning last year but racked up 70 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings on the mound in 2022. 21-year-old Douglas Orellana had 112 strikeouts in 89 1/3 innings for St. Lucie in 2023. Brandon Sproat was drafted by the Mets in consecutive years and will be making his professional debut after a solid career at the University of Florida. Sproat showed off his high-octane fastball in the Spring Breakout game. Yordany Ventura had some strong outings for Brooklyn after a mid-season promotion from Low-A St. Lucie last year.

The bullpen retains some key pieces, including Jordan Geber and Joshua Cornielly. Joining them are recent draft picks and undrafted signees like Ben Simon and Dakota Hawkins, as well as established minor league veterans like Josh Hejka and Diosmerky Taveras.

Catchers (3)

• José Hernández
• Drake Osborn
• Christian Pregent

Brooklyn has enjoyed a glut of highly touted catching prospects in recent years with Francisco Álvarez and Kevin Parada. This group does not have that pedigree.

Christian Pregent, a 10th-round pick in last year’s draft, had a strong senior season at Stetson University’s plate. He struggled in minimal action for St. Lucie and Brooklyn after being drafted, but he has the highest offensive upside among this unit.

José Hernández and Drake Osborn have both not hit much in their professional careers. However, they will likely serve as more defensive-minded options behind the dish.

Infielders (7)

• Ryan Clifford

The star of the show here is Ryan Clifford, one of the two prospects acquired in the Justin Verlander trade at last year’s deadline. He possesses a ton of power at the plate, and it seems like the Cyclones will be looking for him to man first base on an everyday basis. Clifford will look to hit better than he did in his first go-around with Brooklyn when he posted a .683 OPS in 32 games.

The rest of the infield will be made up of players with solid but unremarkable hitting capabilities. D’Andre Smith was a fifth-round pick in the 2022 Draft and posted a .674 OPS in 64 games with Brooklyn last season. William Lugo had a strong showing in 2022 but took a step back last season and will be entering his third year with Brooklyn. Mateo Gil was drafted by the Cardinals all the way back in 2018 and finds himself back in High-A after splitting time in Brooklyn and Binghamton last year.

Outfielders (3)

• Stanley Consuegra
• Omar De Los Santos
• Karell Paz

There are only three outfielders listed on the roster, although Clifford could occasionally see time in one of the corner spots. Stanley Consuegra and Omar De Los Santos each started over 90 games for Brooklyn last season, although they had drastically different levels of success.

Consuegra set a new career high with 23 homers while posting a .783 OPS and driving in 63 runs. Meanwhile, De Los Santos hit just seven homers and posted an underwhelming .571 OPS, although he did tally 37 steals. De Los Santos was sensational for St. Lucie in 2022, hitting 16 homers and swiping 70 bases in 111 games, so the upside is there.

Rounding out the outfield is Karell Paz, a 24-year-old signee from Cuba who played in 61 games for St. Lucie last season. He doesn’t have much pop at the plate, but his .371 OBP proves that he has a knack for getting on base even when he isn’t hitting well.

Two-Way Players (1)

• Nolan McLean

Nolan McLean has his own category on Brooklyn’s official roster sheet, so he will also be treated as such here. McLean was a third-round pick in the 2023 Draft out of Oklahoma State University, and he was drafted specifically as a two-way player. He was an excellent hitter in college but didn’t get much usage on the mound.

McLean played sparingly after being selected last year, hitting in just eight games and pitching 3 1/3 innings. He is in a good position to get far more reps both at the plate and on the mound this season, however. His defensive position, when not pitching, is still up in the air as he played exclusively in the outfield in his senior season in college but also bounced around the infield in prior years. McLean showed off a high-90s fastball and a slider with spin over 3000 rpms in the Spring Breakout game.

Conclusion

The Cyclones seem to be in a better spot entering the 2024 season than they were entering 2023. The rotation is far more fleshed out, the bullpen has players with tons of professional experience under their belt, and some of the team’s largest offensive contributors are back. Add in the presence of exciting young talents like Clifford and McLean, and there is much to be excited about in Brooklyn.

It will be interesting to see how this roster evolves over the course of the season, as some of the team’s most impactful players are likely primed for a mid-season promotion. However, some highly regarded prospects are waiting in the wings in St. Lucie, so change could also bring with it an influx of new talent.

Brooklyn has its sights set on the postseason berth it came so close to capturing last season. The journey there begins on Friday, with Hall getting the Opening Day start.

Futures Game

The only Met to appear in the SIRIUSXM Futures Game was right-handed pitcher Mike Vasil. Vasil only faced two batters in the bottom of the seventh inning surging the National League’s 5-0 win. While he walked Spencer Jones, he struck out Kyren Paris on three pitches.

Further, Martinez hit a solo home run in the sixth, which was his first home run since June 7. As for Reimer, he has driven in multiple runs in four straight games (if you include his rehab assignments).

As the starter on Saturday, De La Cruz struck out seven of the 14 batters he faced. It is the sixth time this season that he has struck out seven or more batters. All four runs against the left-hander came in the bottom of the third with three of them scoring on a bases clearing double. Johnstone had six strikeouts off the bullpen, which was his season-high.

Despite the good pitching performances, St. Lucie ended up losing the game due to Lakeland scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth run. The tying run scored on a wild pitch on a walk and the winning run came around to score on a walk.

Meanwhile, Larez extended his hit streak to six games with an RBI single of his own in the fourth. Rosa has driven in a run in three of his last five games.

For the second straight rehab outing, Joey Lucchesi pitched out of the bullpen, and he was perfect this time out. Lucchesi needed just 13 pitches to make it through a season-high two innings of work on Saturday evening, as he inches closer to his return to the major league team.

The bottom of Syracuse’s lineup did all the heavy lifting in Saturday’s game. The last three hitters in the lineup had four of the team’s six hits and drove in four of their five runs. Meyer got the Mets on the board with a two-run homer in the third inning. That was sixth home run of the season, a total which doubles his previous career high of three. Vientos has been in a mini-slump over the last week, as he is just 1-for-22 in his last six games.

Nogosek continues to be excellent with Syracuse and has held opponents to just a .495 OPS against. After walking 17 batters in just 8 2/3 innings during August, Otanez walking nobody and needing just nine pitches to get through a perfect inning is certainly a welcome sight.

Jordan has struggled since his promotion to Binghamton but had his first multi-hit game in Double-A and scored the Rumble Ponies’ only run in this game. Mauricio is 0-for-12 with one walk and six strikeouts to start his September. Young extended his hit streak to six games with his fifth-inning double.

Bryant was solid, if unspectacular, on Saturday. He needed just 84 pitches to make it through seven innings and kept the Rumble Ponies in the game despite their offensive struggles. Hartwig was excellent as usual in his multi-inning appearance, although he did have some uncharacteristic control issues. After walking just three batters over 10 innings during the entirety of August, he matched those walk numbers in just two innings during his first September appearance. Still, he has allowed just three earned runs over 34 1/3 innings pitched since his promotion to Brooklyn in May.

Despite recording 11 hits in this game, the Cyclones went just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and were able to score just two runs. Newton brought home the first run on a ground-ball single in the second inning, while Schwartz grounded up the middle for an RBI single to bring home the second run in the fifth. Schwartz has been very hot recently and now has multiple hits in nine of his last twelve games. Ramirez has had two hits in each of his first two September games.

Colon was excellent yet again for the Cyclones during his start on Saturday. Since the start of July, Colon has given up one earned run or less in ten of his eleven appearances. The peripheral stats back up his strong ERA, as he has struck out 10.4 batter per nine innings while walking just 2.3 per nine. Acosta continues to dominate out of the bullpen. After posting a 9.93 ERA as a starting pitcher, he has a microscopic 1.36 ERA as a reliever.

De Los Santos is normally known more for his legs than his bat, but Saturday’s performance proved that his bat has plenty of potential as well. He had St. Lucie’s only two extra bases hits, with his second-inning home run leaving his bat at 108.2 MPH and travelling 425 feet. The home run was a three-run blast, providing St. Lucie with all the offense that they would need (and all the offense they would get) for the rest of the game.

Parada has had plentiful days off since he began his professional career, which may explain some of his lack of hitting. Though, the root of the cause may also lie in the fact that pitchers just seem afraid to pitch to him. He has walked eight times over his first 35 professional plate appearances while striking out just six times.

Díaz worked around plenty of traffic on Saturday evening. His 86 pitches through four innings show just how hard he worked to get out of his numerous jams. His curveball was his best and most used pitch. It generated a good but unspectacular 29% whiff rate but also led to eight called strikes (none of his other pitches resulted in more than two called strikes). Díaz’s fastball was in its standard 92-96 MPH range.

Lucchesi came out of the bullpen for his second straight appearance and needed just 13 pitches to get through two scoreless innings. His fastball sat around 90 MPH and generated no whiffs on six swings. Ovalles generated an outstanding 2578 RPM average spin rate on his fastball.

Tylor Megill has been on the shelf since mid-June with a strained right shoulder, but he looked no worse for wear, striking out the side in his rehab appearance for Binghamton. Megill’s return to the big-league club will be in the bullpen as opposed to the starting lineup where he started the season, but outings like this one prove how big of an asset he could be for a Mets team that has struggled at times to bridge the gap between the starting rotation and their top relievers.

Down in Low-A, Omar De Los Santos crushed a walk-off homer for St. Lucie.

Dominic Smith and Gosuke Katoh each had two hits and drove in a run. Mark Vientos had a single in four at-bats.

The Mets fell short of sweeping the doubleheader, losing in the third inning of extras on a walk-off sacrifice fly. Khalil Lee doubled home a run and stole a base, while Dominic Smith picked up an RBI and scored a run. Gosuke Katoh had a great day at the plate in both games of the doubleheader, reaching base in all four of his plate appearances in this one.

Trey Cobb ended up with a tough-luck loss, retiring both batters he faced but allowing the automatic runner to score on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

His fastball was up to 97 mph, and he completely overmatched his Double-A competition.

Matt O’Neill filled up the stat sheet from the nine spot in the batting order, reaching base three times, driving in three runs, and scoring three more.

Daniel Juarez gave up an unearned run, but he has yet to allow an earned run in any of his first three appearances for Brooklyn.

The Mets won in dramatic fashion, with Omar De Los Santos hitting a walk-off two-run homer to seal the victory. Vincent Perozo also homered, his first time going yard for St. Lucie. 2022 first-round pick Kevin Parada went hitless and has just one hit in 11 at-bats to start his professional career, but he has drawn five walks and scored two runs.

It was a solid outing for Javier Atencio, who pitched four scoreless innings while striking out three batters. The bullpen stumbled in the middle innings, giving up four runs in the sixth inning, but held it together at the tail end of the game. Joshua Cornielly pitched a scoreless ninth inning and earned the win after the walk-off homer from De Los Santos.

Right-hander Douglas Orellana gave up two runs in his inning of work but the stuff was good with a fastball up to 97 mph and a curve up to 3100 rpms.

Omar De Los Santos continues to set the base paths ablaze in Florida with two more stolen bases to give him 62 on the season in a St Lucie 4-3 loss. The Brooklyn Cyclones used big games from Jose Peroza and William Lugo to get back to the .500 mark and Dominic Smith and Khalil Lee would hit long home runs for Syracuse.

The Syracuse offense seemed to be stuck on snooze mode through most of this game as the Mets managed to score only a couple of runs and came into the eighth inning trailing 7-2. The Mets would then mount a rally as their bats came alive in a big way as they put up a five-run inning and pulled even with Charlotte. The rally would ultimately fall short as the Knights would sneak by with an 8-7 victory. The Syracuse offense, despite missing Brett Baty is rolling in Charlotte, scoring a combined 15 runs in two games so far in the series.

Veteran outfielder Travis Jankowski made his return to the Mets organization, though he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.

Next up was Jordan Yamamoto, who has major league experience as a starter but wouldn’t fare much better in this one as in his 2 2/3 innings, he would allow Charlotte to scatter seven hits and four runs. After the Syracuse offense rallied back to tie the game, Josh Walker would give up the deciding home run to Mark Payton that sunk Syracuse, 8-7.

It’s been a rough season for Binghamton and tonight was no different for the Rumble Ponies as they were shutout in an 8-0 loss to Richmond. The Ponies were held to just three hits and the only extra-base hit went to Carlos Cortes, his first triple of the season.

Ronny Mauricio, the last of the top Met prospects still in Double-A went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Tony Dibrell made his second Double-A start in this one and had a similar outing as his first. Dibrell would again last three innings and gave up four runs this time as he suffered his first Double-A loss. Despite laboring through 60 pitches, Dibrell did punch out five batters, a new single-game season high for him. Cam Opp, making his Double-A debut, came into the game in relief. Opp wouldn’t make a good first impression as he was tagged for six hits on four earned runs and walked three batters in just 2 2/3 innings of work in a messy 8-0 loss.

The Brooklyn offense was firing on all cylinders in this one as the Cyclones used ten hits to score seven runs in a 7-5 win over Hudson Valley. The Cyclones scored early, with a three-run second inning, and often as they scored a run in four out of the remaining six innings. Jose Peroza and William Lugo would put up big games at the plate, each tallying a three-hit game and Lugo launching his second High-A home run. On the base paths, Matt Rudick and Jaylen Palmer would each have a stolen base.

In his first start in High-A, Jeffrey Colon turned in a serviceable effort for Brooklyn. Through 2 2/3 innings, Colon would allow only one run, despite having a lot of traffic on the base paths as he allowed five hits and two walks. Nolan Clenney would earn the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with a couple of strikeouts. Things would get dicey for the Cyclones in the ninth as Askew who had been cruising, suddenly began to stumble and allowed Hudson Valley to score four runs to cut the Brooklyn lead to two. Daison Acosta would come in and put out the fire as he got a big strikeout to strand the tying run on base and give the Cyclones a 7-5 victory.

St Lucie Mets (65-44) 3 vs. Lakeland Flying Tigers (52-56) 4   BOX SCORE

Despite outhitting Lakeland, the Mets wouldn’t be able to outscore the Flying Tigers in a tight 4-3 loss. The loss didn’t stop the 2019 13th-round draft selection, Blaine McIntosh, from continuing his hot hitting in Single-A since his call-up from the FCL. In just five games, McIntosh already has seven hits, three RBIs, and is batting .389. Omar De Los Santos added two more stolen bases to his total, which has now reached 62 and he is just two away from Carlos Gomez‘s total of 64 back in 2005. Also worth noting, Long Island native Brad Malm would notch his first professional RBI in this game. The Mets signed the SUNY Albany product in late July to a minor league contract.

A three-run Lakeland third inning would doom Franklin Sanchez and the Mets to an eventual 4-3 loss. Sanchez had a smooth first two innings retiring six of his first seven batters, but things would unravel in the third inning, which was capped off by a Manuel Sequera game-tying home run. Jace Beck would come in in relief, but an unusual loss of control for Beck would hand him the loss despite not allowing a hit, as three walks and a run-scoring wild pitch would give Beck his first loss of the season.

Dominican Summer League: DSL Rockies (33-23) 5 vs DSL Mets (27-27) 1   BOX SCORE

The DSL Mets only managed to score one run in this one off of a Jesus Baez RBI-double as the Mets lost to the Rockies 5-1.

The electric tandem of Mark Vientos and Francisco Álvarez made all the difference for the Syracuse Mets in their 3-2 victory on Thursday night. Elsewhere, Alex Ramirez had a clutch go-ahead hit in just his third game for Brooklyn, while Omar De Los Santos stole a win for St. Lucie with his legs.

AAA: Syracuse Mets (35-46) 3, Buffalo Bisons (42-39) 2 Box Score

The Mets only managed four hits, but that was enough to secure them the victory. Mark Vientos drove in Francisco Álvarez with an RBI single in the fourth inning, and with every passing day it becomes slightly more unfathomable that he has yet to get the call to the majors. Álvarez contributed a sacrifice fly that ultimately brought in the deciding run, and although he is just 1-for-10 through his first three games at the AAA level, he has collected two RBI.

Tim Adleman has spent the majority of the season for Syracuse in the bullpen, but his last three appearances have all been starts and he was sharp in this one. He allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts, picking up his second win of the year. The bullpen was dominant in relief, surrendering just two hits across the final 3 1/3 innings.

The Rumble Ponies were chasing this game from the get-go, and the offense had little hope of bringing it back once things got out of hand. They managed just a single run, an RBI single from Zach Ashford who wound up with a three-hit day. Brett Baty went hitless in five at-bats, and Ronny Mauricio has not played since July 3rd.

This game was all but done early, as Rumble Ponies pitchers were tagged for 11 runs before the offense even got the chance to bat, and the score was 16-0 by the end of the third inning. Alec Kisena allowed home runs to the first two batters he faced and gave up seven runs while recording just one out.

It was none other than Grant Hartwig to stem the flow, as he pitched three scoreless innings in his first appearance since being called up from Brooklyn. This is the third different level that Hartwig is pitching at this year as he continues his quick ascent through the organization.

The Cyclones came out on top in a close contest, and the recently promoted Alex Ramirez provided the knockout punch with a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning. Ramirez is 3-for-13 through his first three games with Brooklyn with two doubles. José Peroza had two doubles and pushed his hitting streak to six games, hitting .421 in that span.

Garrison Bryant fell just short of completing six innings for the fourth straight start, but he did a great job of working around trouble and left the game with his team in front. Nate Jones has allowed just one run across his first four appearances (10.1 IP) for Brooklyn, and he earned the win after retiring all four batters he faced. Justin Courtney ran into a little trouble in the ninth inning, but he locked down his fifth save of the season.

The Mets lost some firepower on both sides of the ball in the past week due to promotions, but they still muscled their way to a victory on Thursday. Raul Beracierta hit a solo homer to tie the game in the seventh inning, and Omar De Los Santos scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth. De Los Santos had two steals for his 11th multi-steal game of the season, and he is up to an astonishing 46 steals on the year.

Joel Diaz put together his best start of the season, allowing two runs in four innings with four strikeouts. The bullpen combined for five scoreless innings, highlighted by a six-out save from Raimon Gómez during which he struck out four.

In what has become a near-daily theme, top prospect Francisco Álvarez hit yet another home run on Saturday night for Binghamton. His 17th of the season. Joining Álvarez in the power surge, Ronny Mauricio homered for the second night in a row. These two top prospects’ power surge was the key to Binghamton’s 11-0 blowout against Reading.

AAA: Syracuse Mets (28-42) 5, Rochester Red Wings (39-32) 4 Box Score

The Mets had just six hits in Saturday’s game, but Blankenhorn’s huge day ensured that they made the most of their offensive opportunities. By getting on base four times, and smacking two extra base hits in this game, Blankenhorn continued the ridiculous hot streak that he has been on in June. He has a seven-game hitting streak and is slashing .410/.483/.705 in June.

Vientos hasn’t quite maintained his outstanding May numbers over the last few weeks. However, he has improved his plate discipline during that span. After walking just 17 times in his first 43 games, Vientos has now drawn eight walks in his last seven games.

Binghamton’s lineup had a huge game from top to bottom, as every starter got on base at least once in the game. Mauricio and Álvarez continued to flash their impressive power with a home run apiece during Saturday’s contest.

Over the last 30 days Álvarez’s 11 home runs and Mauricio’s seven home runs rank first and fourth in the Eastern League, respectively. Álvarez is now slashing .316/.418/.750 in June and he has significantly cut his strikeout rate from 25.7% in April and May to 20.9% this month.

McIlwain has recorded at least one hit in all seven games he has played since his promotion to Double-A. He has an 11-game hitting streak going back to his time in Brooklyn.

Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez has 3 hits today including his 17th home run of the season for Double-A Binghamton.

Kisena and Griffin combined to pitch a five-hit shutout on Saturday. Outside of another six-inning scoreless start in April in which he struck out eight batters, this was Kisena’s best start of what has been a rocky season. Griffin has not allowed a run in four appearances (nine innings) out of the bullpen this season.

The Cyclones had just seven hits in Saturday’s game, but two-run singles by Murphy and Rudick in the first and fourth innings, respectively, gave the team all the offense they needed. Murphy has had a very strong June and is now slashing .351/.415/.595 for the month.

Bryant gave up a solo home run in each of his first and last innings of work, but otherwise was nearly flawless over six innings. Hartwig has a 15.23 K/9 and has held hitters to a .468 OPS over 13 innings pitched since his promotion to Brooklyn.

The Mets pushed across six runs in Saturday’s game, but considering their 1-for-10 performance with runners in scoring position, St. Lucie let plenty of opportunities go to waste.

Consuegra’s two doubles were both hit over 100 MPH off the bat. His second double was hit 106.6 MPH and travelled 386 feet. Omar De Los Santos stole two bases in this game, pushing his season total to 41. He has only been caught just five times. Santos is just the third minor league player this year to steal 40 bases. Ramirez has found himself in a fairly significant slump over the last 10 days: he is just 3-for-37 since June 15th.

After tossing three straight scoreless outings to begin his rehab from Tommy John surgery, Ventura hit his first bump in the road by giving up four runs on Saturday. However, his fastball velocity (93.6 MPH) and spin rate (2417 RPM), while slightly below where they were in his previous start, were still in line with his career norms.

Askew was wildly effective, throwing just 29 of his 51 pitches for strikes, but also striking out five batters. His slider had a 50% whiff rate on the night and his sinker topped out at 94.2 MPH. McLoughlin threw just four pitches before the first batter he faced launched the ball over the fence for a walk-off home run.

FCL: FCL Mets (9-6) 3, FCL Astros (3-11) 0 Box Score

Three of Perozo’s first six hits in the Florida Complex League have gone for extra bases. The Mets’ offense was helped by five Astros’ errors in just seven innings.

After giving up three or more runs in each of his first three appearances of the year, a scoreless outing is a welcome sight from De La Cruz. Despite the ugly ERA, he has managed to strike out 14 batters in just 8 1/3rd innings pitched this year. Ovalles has given up just one run and has a 21:1 K:BB ratio in 12 1/3rd innings pitched this season.

With his two-hit performance on Sunday, Juan has had at least one hit and one RBI in each of his last four games.

With a 1.32 WHIP this year, Palacios has gotten into quite a bit of trouble, but he has managed to allow just one run over 11 1/3rd innings pitched.

Castillo hit for the two hardest legs of the cycle, including his first career home run, as he continued his strong season in the Dominican Summer League.
