Last week I told you I was working on some new designs for our MMO T-Shirt Shop, and here they are!

I decided to completely re-design the old “Retired Numbers” design and I based the new t-shirts on one of my newest Mets graphics, check it out:

That’s the bumper sticker I designed (all by hand, thank you very much), then I clipped it, made a hi-res gfx, and dropped it onto these babies!

MMO T-SHIRT SHOP

New “Retired Numbers” Series

As you can see I added “Shea” to it, and by the way, you can get them in over a dozen other colors including black, khaki, tan, and several others.

It’s a great way to celebrate Citi Field while keeping the memory of the grand old Shea Stadium alive and well in our hearts.

Buy one for yourself and get one for a friend or loved one too, and in the process $4.00 will go toward supporting our site’s expenses. So you’ll be helping us out too! 🙂

Lets Go Mets!

P.S. Even more cool stuff is coming later today, especially for all you mommas and soon to be mommas!

So the Mets got mathematically eliminated last night, big deal. I did get to see many positive things to build upon for next season, and I’m choosing to focus on that.

In this new series of graphics, I want to highlight some of the players that I believe will have more prominent roles in 2011 and could help pave the way to a better future.

Jon Niese, Josh Thole, Bobby Parnell, Lucas Duda, Dillon Gee, Ruben Tejada, Angel Pagan and even R.A. Dickey all figure to be back next season and take on added responsibility.

Will Dickey become the defacto ace until Johan Santana returns, and will Dillon Gee win the number five spot?

Does Tejada take over at second base, while Thole takes over behind the dish?

Can Duda give the Mets a potent bat off the bench while Pagan builds on another solid season?

These are just a few questions that will be answered in the coming months. Until then, lets give these players some MetsMerized love!

I hate off days… Especially when we’re on a seven game winning streak! So on this slow Mets news day, I dug around and came across a cool post I wrote not too long ago that seems very appropriate today. This post was originally published in February, back when the Mets were the laughing stock of baseball. Back then, I wanted to let everyone know why I believed the Mets had what it takes to create some magic this season. Check it out…

Original Post: February 13, 2010

It was only a year ago that many sports journalists picked the Mets as favorites to win the World Series.

The same journalists and sportscasters who saw a rotation of Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez and John Maine as championship caliber, now rail against them and repeatedly put them down.

The same journalists and sportscaters who were gushing over an outfield of Murphy, Beltran and Church, now mocks them despite the obvious upgrades with additions of Jason Bay and Jeff Francouer. (Yes, they are upgrades regardless of what some saber-heads say!)

The only thing that went wrong last season was the loss of the games top leadoff hitter, the games top center fielder, one of the league’s most feared sluggers, three-fifths of the starting rotation, and several relievers including our newly acquired setup man who would have been a closer for more than half of the teams in the league. The losses were unprecedented and the Mets set a new Major League record for days lost to the disabled list.

We were forced to ravage our minor leagues and bring up players who were ill-prepared or simply not ready… YET.

Did we have problems with fundamentals despite all the injuries? We sure did, but they only became more magnified because over 60% of our opening day payroll spent time on the disabled list.

In 2006 we had those same problems with fundamentals and yet we came within one out of the World Series. And that was before we added Johan Santana, Frankie Rodriguez, Jeff Francoeur and now Jason Bay.

If we stay healthy, and I know that’s a big if, we can do this season, what everyone thought we would do last season. We can win the division and challenge for the 2010 World Series.

The more I hear the phrase “We Believe In Comebacks”, the more it begins to make sense to me. I do belive in comebacks, and I do belive in this Mets team.

Last season may not have worked out the way that we all imagined it would, but this year will be different. We’ll be back healthier and faster and stronger and more focused and determined than ever before.

Ya “still” Gotta Believe!

Sunday afternoon is usually a day of rest for me and most Americans but after sleeping in, a movie and some television I suddenly felt the need to create some orange and blue graphics. Maybe it was the seven hours spent watching them yesterday or the fact they will be on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, but it was on my mind and I wanted to act on it before I lost the creativity so I present to you, The Unusual Suspects.

Rod Barajas is new to the Mets and to me for that matter. So far he as many ribbies as Wright and two homers, not a bad start to his first and probably last Mets season. Does he remind anyone else a little bit of Paul Lo Duca?

Jason Bay, our new star left fielder has yet to impress in New York. But as baseball goes he will get hot, its just a matter of time. Maybe this graphic could be the good luck charm he needs to get things rolling. That and a day off tonight…

Jeff Francoeur, oh oh Jeff Francoeur. You are stealing our hearts and making all the naysayers eat their words. Knock another one out of the park, we always love to see The French Connection!

Ryota Igarashi has come straight out of Japan and into our own field of dreams. He started out the season hoping to become the regular setup man in a field of many, and it looks like he may have convinced Jerry that he’s the man for the job. You have us wanting more, Iggy!

Enjoy and Lets Go Mets!!!

Reyes was all smiles as usual and when asked how he felt, he simply replied “It’s good to be back”. The All-Star shortstop was sidelined for 126 games last year by a hamstring problem, then missed most of spring training with a hyperactive thyroid. But he is back and brightening up the clubhouse with his signature smile on his face and joking with anybody who he runs into.

“He brings such energy to the team,” Minaya said. “I was thinking about that this morning, it’s been almost a year, 11 months, since he’s been on the field. It’s nice to have him back.”

In honor of the newest Mets to be selected to the Mets Hall of Fame, we’ve designed some new graphics for you to show off and display on your websites and social pages. Congratulations to Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Davey Johnson and Frank Cashen.

Strawberry was one of the most feared hitters in Mets history, and is the club’s leader in home runs (252), runs batted in (733), runs (662) and extra-base hits (469). The former No. 1 draft pick won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1983 hitting 26 home runs. The rightfielder was a seven-time All-Star with the Mets and hit 25 or more home runs in each of his eight years with the team. In 1988, Strawberry led the league with a career-high 39 home runs as the Mets won their second NL East title in three years. (mets.com)

Gooden has the second most wins (157) and strikeouts (1,875) in franchise history, trailing only Mets and National Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver. Gooden holds the Mets record for most shutouts in a season (8) and owns the major league record for most strikeouts by a rookie in a season (276). “Doc” electrified Mets fans for 11 seasons, finishing his Mets career with a 157-85 record and a 3.10 earned run average. The righthander burst onto the scene in 1984, winning 17 games and the National League Rookie of the Year honors. He continued his dominance the following season by winning the pitching Triple Crown – leading the National League in wins (24), strikeouts (268) and ERA (1.53) – and capturing the Cy Young Award. (mets.com)

Johnson transformed the Mets into winners after seven straight losing seasons and has the highest winning percentage (.588) of any manager in club history. The Mets ran away with the NL East, winning a club-record 108 games, on their way to their second World Championship in 1986. Johnson’s teams won an average of 95 games from 1984-1990 and took home a second division title in 1988 with 100 victories. He finished his Mets career with a 595-417 record. (mets.com)
