The Syracuse offense found themselves in a 9-0 hole by the end of the third inning, but they almost found a way to complete the comeback. Gilbert continued his strong September with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give him three home runs in the last six games. The other home run came from Brosseau in the bottom of the fourth, which got the Mets on the board.

Wednesday was not Tidwell’s best day on the mound to say the least. The RailRiders hit home runs against him in each of the first two innings, including a two-run home run from Jasson Dominguez in the first. The seven runs allowed is the most he has given up in an outing this year.

Hitters are 1-for-29 with 13 strikeouts against Fujinami in his last six outings.

The Rumble Ponies picked up three of their four runs in the bottom of the second. Those runs came on an RBI double by Jordan and Palmer would hit a two-run home run right after him. Jordan had an RBI in Game 2, which gives him four straight games with a run driven in.

After Binghamton had a 3-1 lead, the Patriots scored two runs in the third and fourth innings against Moreno to end up taking the lead for good. Out of the six hits allowed by the right-hander, four of them were extra-base hits. He gave up a two-run home run and three doubles (two of them by Spencer Jones).

Just like Game 1, Binghamton had a 3-1 lead, but they were unable to hang on in the end. Palmer kept the good momentum going with a ground-rule double in the top of the second. Two innings later, Jackson would hit a solo shot for his 17th home run of the year. The 24-year-old hit his first home run since August 28.

The only hit Foster gave up in Game 2 was a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The 25-year-old tied his season-high with seven strikeouts (June 8). After the home run, Foster struck out the next six batters he faced. Cornielly had another scoreless appearance out of the bullpen. He has not allowed a run in six of his last seven outings in Double-A.

Garcia made his Brooklyn 2024 debut on Wednesday and pitched very well. Two of the three hits he allowed were doubles, but he was able to keep Wilmington off the scoreboard when he needed to. The seven strikeouts are the second-most he has had in any start this year. Despite the three walks, Ammons struck out three batters for the third consecutive outing.

Low-A

The St. Lucie Mets (44-81) had their game against the Clearwater Threshers (61-62) canceled due to rain. The two teams concluded their suspended game from September 3, with the Mets picking up a 4-3 win in seven innings. Their bullpen trio of Channing Austin, Hoss Brewer, and Frank Elissalt combined to not allow a run in the final 3 2/3 innings to preserve the win.

The bulk of Syracuse’s offense came in the bottom of the third when they put up three runs due in part to RBI singles by Acuña and Baty. Baty has a four-game hit streak and has driven in a run in three of his last four games. Later in the game, Gilbert hit a solo home run in the fifth for his second home run of the year.

The Rumble Ponies picked up a win on Wednesday in walk-off fashion. With Jordan on second base and one out, Palmer delivered an RBI double to tie the game (extended hit streak to five games). Two batters later, Rudick recorded the game-winning hit on a single. Rudick has had a hit in four straight games and had his fifth game of three or more hits this year.

Geber picked up a quality start on Wednesday and did not allow a single extra-base hit against the Reading lineup. The 25-year-old right-hander had his longest outing of the year and has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his last seven starts.

It was an interesting day for the St. Lucie offense. The Mets did have 13 hits, but they were 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Facing an early 3-0 deficit, Baro got the team on the board with a leadoff home run. He would later tie the game at three in the second with a sacrifice fly. Ewing would hit a solo home run in the eighth. The 20-year-old has multiple hits in three of the last four games.

The big-picture highlight of this game for the Mets is Williams’ return. Williams got back in the lineup for the first time since April 21 and had a single and stolen base in his first at-bat.

After a rough first inning that saw Moreta allow three runs, he settled into a groove. The 20-year-old right-hander completed six innings for the first time this year and he had a season-high seven strikeouts. Moreta has 18 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings in three outings this month.

Syracuse ended up scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 6-3 deficit. Sánchez ended up having the go-ahead hit with a two-run single to put the Mets ahead, 7-6. Wednesday was the second three-hit game for Sánchez while with Syracuse.

The five Syracuse pitchers ended up walking as many hitters as they struck out (8), but there were still some standouts such as Walker. While Walker did not record a strikeout, he ended up extending his scoreless streak to eight consecutive outings.

The Rumble Ponies did take the loss on Wednesday, but they were able to rally from an 8-4 deficit in the bottom of the eighth to force extra innings. Jackson did not get the start, but he had a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the ninth to tie the game at eight.

Schwartz extended his hit streak to seven games thanks to his fourth game of three or more hits this season. He had an RBI single in the fifth as well as an RBI double in the tenth, which was one of his two doubles on the night.

The four Rumble Ponies pitchers had a tough time giving up the long ball as they managed to allow five home runs in the loss. One of those home runs was a grand slam allowed by Gervase in the top of the tenth.

After scoring one run in the first five innings, the Cyclones provided some key insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Morabito began the inning with a leadoff single and stolen base. He would come around to score on an RBI double by Baez. The 19-year-old has four RBIs over the last four games. Later in the inning, Lara would cap the scoring with a two-run home run to put Brooklyn up 4-0.

New York Mets fans could not ask for a better first rehab outing for Senga, who had a stretch of four consecutive strikeouts at one point during his outing. He was using his ghost fork effectively and was able to get his fastball up to 97 miles-per-hour in velocity.

Meanwhile, Morris’s performance should not get lost in the shuffle. The 22-year-old right-hander has gone at least six innings in three consecutive outings and has struck out six or more batters in three of his last four appearances. In addition to the seven strikeouts, Morris was able to get the Renegades into nine groundouts in the win.

Daytona was able to get Garcia as they put up four of the five runs scored against him in the first inning. As a team, Daytona had seven doubles, including four by Yerlin Confidan. Despite the rough start, Garcia finished five innings for the second time in his last three starts. As for Gomez, he had a season-high five strikeouts and has had five straight scoreless appearances.

As for the rest of the offense, they did not have another extra-base hit, and they were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Baty had two more hits and he has a hit in each of the last four games he has played at the Triple-A level. Acuña ended up having his third multi-hit performance in the last four games.

While Mets fans wait for Christian Scott to get called back up, the right-hander keeps finding ways to excel in the minors, albeit while his workload is being managed. While the right-hander allowed a solo home run in the top of the fourth, he was efficient with his pitches and got four swinging strikeouts.

Clifford had the other RBI via a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He drew a walk, which gives him 10 for the month of June (six strikeouts).

The Cyclones only managed to record two hits and combined to strike out 13 times against three Renegades pitchers. Those two hits came on infield singles from Suero in the top of the first and from Gil in the fifth.

The St. Lucie Mets (19-39) had their game against the Jupiter Hammerheads (32-26) postponed due to rain. They will make up the game as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, with Game 1 beginning at 4 p.m. ET.

The FCL Mets (11-14) had their game against the FCL Marlins (17-7) postponed due to rain. They will make up the game on June 24.

The 16-year-old has at least one hit in four of the last five games.

The Mets had little going on offensively in Sunday’s game, as they recorded just two hits – both singles by Young, over the course of the entire game. They did walk seven times in the game, allowing them to push across three runs in the seventh inning: there were two walks and two hit batters before a single out could be recorded in the inning. The other two runs scored on a Young single and a forceout. After a rough season with both Brooklyn and Binghamton, Palmer has surprisingly come alive with his promotion to Triple-A and now has an 11-game on-base streak.

Chacin put up a solid if lackluster pitching line over four innings on Sunday afternoon. He gave up a home run in the first inning and a RBI single in the second, but otherwise pitched to contact without giving up any more hits. Griffin struggled in almost every way, allowing 11 baserunners and needing 82 pitches to complete three innings of work. Over three appearances with Syracuse this month, he has a 10.38 ERA. Lavender continues to post enormous strikeout numbers: over 54 1/3 innings pitched this season, he has struck out 86 batters, good for a 14.25 rate per nine innings.

Double-A: Erie Seawolves (38-31) vs. Binghamton Rumble Ponies (39-27)

The first game of the Eastern League Championship series was rained out on Sunday evening. The series will begin on Monday night at 6:05 P.M in Binghamton.

Even though the Triple-A season will be over after Sunday’s game, Syracuse Mets’ (61-84) outfielder Jaylen Palmer is going into the offseason on a strong note. The 23-year-old, and 22nd-round pick in 2018, went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Syracuse’s 6-4 loss to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (72-75) on Saturday.

Palmer ended up getting Syracuse on the board in the bottom of the fourth when his RBI single drove in Brandon McIlwain and cut the then RailRiders lead to 5-1. He has multiple hits in three of the last five games and he has driven in at least one run in four of the last five games.

The Mets were playing catchup from the beginning as right-handed starter Justin Jarvis (0-7, 8.79 ERA) was unable to get the big outs when he needed them. He allowed a two-run home run to Carlos Narvaez in the third, a two-run double by Franchy Cordero, and another RBI double by Narvaez in the fourth.

On the night, Jarvis went 3 1/3 innings, allowed five runs on nine hits, walked two, and struck out three on 78 pitches (48 strikes) in the loss. The 23-year-old right-hander who the Mets got from the Milwaukee Brewers in the Mark Canha deal will end September going 0-3 with a 9.64 ERA in four starts.

Syracuse tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the eighth when Wyatt Young’s RBI single cut the lead to three. However, Scranton Wilkes-Barre got one back in the following inning on an RBI double by Jake Lamb against Sam Coonrod.

In the ninth, the Mets did cut the four-run deficit in half thanks to an RBI double by Daniel Palka (60^th RBI of the year) and Danny Mendick scoring thanks to an error on a ball hit by Carlos Cortes. The Mets had the winning run at the plate, but Young flew out to right to end the threat. On the night, Syracuse went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Scranton Wilkes-Barre did have a pitcher making a rehab appearance starting the game in RHP Frankie Montas. Montas threw two scoreless innings, allowed one hit, and struck out two.

On a positive note, the Mets got a strong pitching performance by right-handed reliever William Woods in relief of Jarvis. Woods threw 3 2/3 hitless innings, walked a batter, and struck out five on 50 pitches (36 strikes). The 24-year-old ended his September having a scoreless outing in five of his last six appearances.

Syracuse will wrap up their season on Sunday at 1:05 p.m ET at NBT Bank Stadium. RHP Clayton Beeter (2-5, 5.32) will start for Scranton Wilkes-Barre against RHP José Chacin (1-0, 5.81) for the Mets.

The Syracuse Mets staged a late rally and Brandon McIlwain drew a bases-loaded walk to win the game. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are still on break after defeating the Somerset Patriots in the Eastern League semi-finals.

In the sixth inning, with the game tied at two, Palmer hit a two-run home run to put the Mets back on top. The 23-year-old has homered in three straight games and he has five home runs in the month of September.

The four Syracuse pitchers that appeared in this game combined to strike out 16 batters and only surrendered one extra-base hit. Jarvis ended up his longest outing as a member of the Mets’ organization and the seven strikeouts were the most he had in a start since June 23 at Double-A Biloxi.

Kay ended up making his return to the Mets organization and threw 15-of-23 pitches for strikes and striking out three of the four batters he faced. As for Lavender, he has 12 strikeouts to 2 walks in five games this month (1.69 ERA).

The 23-year-old right-hander allowed a one-out single in the fourth, but that was his only mistake. In three outings this month (two with Binghamton), He has allowed only one hit in each outing (11 1/3 innings pitched).

Minnick threw two scoreless innings of relief to give him five consecutive scoreless outings.

The Syracuse Mets are 5-7 in September and are ninth in the International League East.

Wilkin Ramos continued his strong season across two levels.

Saturday marked Geber’s first appearance of the year with Binghamton and it’s the fourth different affiliate he has been with this year. Nevertheless, he did not allow a single extra-base hit and the 24-year-old right-hander had his longest outing since May 7 (7 IP with Brooklyn).

Geravse ended up striking out four batters for the third consecutive appearance en route to his first Double-A save.

Binghamton leads the Portland Sea Dogs by five games for a playoff spot.

While the Cyclones were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, five of their six runs came via the long ball. Consuegra got the scoring started with a three-run home run in the top of the first, which is tied for third in the South Atlantic League.

After an Osborn solo home run in the second made it 4-0 (sac fly in the sixth), Ramírez added a solo home run of his own in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-0. Williams added another walk out of the leadoff spot to give him 97 for the year in 108 games.

After three straight rough outings, Colina bounced back in a big way. The 22-year-old right-hander had a season-high ten strikeouts and it ties a career-high that he had in the Florida Complex League last year. The six innings that he worked was the longest of his career. Due to shutting out Greenville, the Cyclones have 11 shutouts this year, which is a new franchise record for strikeouts in a season.

With the win and a Jersey Shore loss, Brooklyn has a one-game lead for a playoff spot.

Coming into the day, the ninth-round pick in this year’s draft had three doubles in his first 20 professional games combined. Mosquera picked up a multi-hit game to extend his hit streak to six games.

The eight strikeouts that he had were a season-high. As for Hawkins, the 23-year-old out of Washington State has not allowed a run or a hit in the first four outings of his career.
