Longtime Yankees reporter and broadcaster Suzyn Waldman was elected to the Museum of Broadcast Communication Radio Hall of Fame. She’s worked for the Yankees for 36 years and was the first woman to serve as a full-time color commentator in Major League Baseball history. She and John Sterling have been the radio voices of the Yankees since 2005.

The Mets had a day off Monday, and now they welcome their crosstown rivals to Citi Field for the Subway Series. Taijuan Walker (7-2, 2.55 ERA) will look to keep his hot streak going while the Bronx Bombers will counter with southpaw Jordan Montgomery (3-2, 3.24 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm.

Jacob deGrom will make his next rehab start on Wednesday in Syracuse. This will be deGrom’s fifth rehab start as he continues to get closer to returning to the majors. First pitch at NBT Bank Stadium is scheduled for 12:05 pm that day.

Travis Blankenhorn has cleared waivers and been back to Triple-A Syracuse. Blankenhorn was called up to the majors last week but was designated for assignment after the team acquired Dan Vogelbach.

Seventh-round pick Jonah Tong has signed with the Mets for $226,000. The Canadian right-hander pitched in the MLB Draft League and was committed to North Dakota State.

The Major League Baseball Players Association rejected the league’s proposal for an international draft. The MLBPA felt the league’s proposals weren’t fair to international prospects and would be detrimental to the league.

Major League Baseball has been granted an extension by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee to respond to an inquiry about the league’s antitrust laws. The committee had initially asked commissioner Rob Manfred to respond by today.

Bryce Harper saw the doctor but didn’t have the pins removed from his thumb. The two-time MVP is hoping to have them removed on Monday. Harper also said he’s still receiving treatment on his elbow and hopes to be able to play the field by the end of the year.

The Rays received some devastating news about two of their players. 2021 All-Star catcher Mike Zunino was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and will undergo season-ending surgery. Gold Glove outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will also miss the remainder of the year as he’s undergoing hip surgery.

Trey Mancini told Mark Viviano of WJZ-TV that he expects the next four games to be his last as an Oriole. The Mets are one of many teams that are targeting Mancini ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

The Rangers have signed former Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel to a minor-league contract. The southpaw was with the White Sox and Diamondbacks earlier this season but was released by both teams after being shelled to the tune of an 8.53 ERA in 12 starts. The 34-year-old will report to Triple-A Round Rock later this week.

Padres manager Bob Melvin said Mackenzie Gore left his outing today with elbow soreness. The former first-round pick came into the game in the fourth inning and threw 36 pitches before being removed.

2012: Matt Harvey sets a Mets franchise record by striking out 11 batters in his MLB debut and allows just three hits in 5 1/3 shutout innings as the Mets defeat the Diamondbacks, 3-1. Harvey also goes 2-for-2 at the plate with a double.

2015: The Mets are able to end Zack Greinke‘s scoreless streak at 45 2/3 innings when Jacob deGrom’s fielder’s choice brings home Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Jeurys Familia blows the save by allowing two runs in the ninth, but the newly-acquired Juan Uribe socks a walk-off single in the 10th against Kenley Jansen to give the Mets a 3-2 victory.
