Last night, the Mets came back in extra innings and scored five runs in the tenth inning to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 8-3 and take the series victory. Pete Alonso had four hits and Brandon Nimmo added three hits (including a three-run homer in the 10th inning) to power the Mets offense. Dan Quiñones has a more complete recap of last night’s game.

The Mets will start a four-game series against the Miami Marlins tonight at Citi Field at 7:10 PM EST.

Tim Healey of Newsday Sports reports that Travis Jankowski (broken left hand) might return to the Mets during the Atlanta series next week, according to Buck Showalter.

Christian De Block of Metsmerized reports that Taijuan Walker has interest in signing with the Mets long-term. Walker discussed a long-term deal with the Mets, saying, “It would be nice to do a longer-term deal and kind of just be set up in one place and know that I’m going to be here for a couple years […] Maybe have my family settle in a little bit. That would be nice.”

The Los Angeles Angels write that Shohei Ohtani has joined Johan Santana (2004 Twins) as the only A.L. pitchers to go 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 40+ strikeouts in a four-game span in the divisional era. Prior to 1969, only Ray Culp (1968 Red Sox) and Rube Waddell (1907 A’s) had done so.
