Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets are in Milwaukee for a three-game series at American Family Field beginning tonight. With a win over the Brewers this evening, the Mets can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. Max Scherzer (9-4, 2.26 ERA) will make his return from the injured list against 2021 NL Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes (10-7, 2.97 ERA). Scherzer missed his last two starts with fatigue in his left side and appeared ready to go after his rehab start in Syracuse this past week.

The Mets took two of three from the Brewers at Citi Field back in June, but American Family Field has not been the friendliest environment for the Mets in recent years. Since taking the first two games of a four-game series back in 2016, the Mets have lost 14 of their last 15 games in Milwaukee and haven’t won a series there since 2014. The Brewers swept the Mets in Milwaukee in 2017, 2019, and 2021, and took three of four in 2018.

Joely Rodríguez earned the win in relief, striking out five in two perfect innings. Jeff McNeil reached base five times with two hits and three walks, and Brandon Nimmo collected three hits. This is the Mets’ first four-game sweep since they pulled off the feat against the Diamondbacks from September 9-12, 2019.

Down on the farm, the St. Lucie Mets were down to their last strike in Game 1 of the FSL Championship Series when Carlos Dominguez hit a game-winning two-run homer. Kevin Parada reached base three times and drove in a run, while Raimon Gomez pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win.
