Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets sneaked by to a 4-3 victory Friday night to start July off on the right foot.

In game one of a three-game series against the Rangers, the Mets got a big fourth inning that proved to be the difference of the ballgame.

Mark Canha got things started with a game-tying single. Eduardo Escobar then cracked a three-run homer to get the Mets up 4-3.

David Peterson tied a career-best 10 strikeouts over six innings, allowing only three runs. The bullpen followed with three scoreless innings, capped off with another Edwin Díaz masterpiece in which he struck out two in a perfect ninth.

Liz Evangelou provided a further recap of the win.

With Peterson pitching well, things are looking up for the Mets’ rotation with Max Scherzer expected to pitch for the Mets Tuesday. Jacob DeGrom also continues to make progress.
