David Peterson is 2-0 over six games and five starts this season, tossing 29 2/3 innings with a 3.03 ERA, 3.99 FIP, 1.180 WHIP and a 132 ERA+. The month of May hasn’t been the greatest for Peterson as he has allowed 10 runs, nine earned over three starts. April was much better as Peterson allowed only one run over 14 innings scattering nine hits and five walks. The only players who have faced Peterson in a major league have played for other teams over the last couple of years:

  • Freddie Freeman 3-10, BB, 4 K
  • Trea Turner 2-8, 2B, BB, 2 K
  • Kevin Pillar 2-3, 2B

Walker Buehler is 6-1 over 10 games and 58 2/3 innings with a 3.22 ERA, 3.45 FIP, 1.244 WHIP and a 129 ERA+. He’s hit a bit of a rough patch since mid-May however. In four starts and 22 innings since May 13th, Buehler has allowed 14 runs, 13 earned (5.28 ERA) from 28 hits and six walks. Opponents are hitting .304/.347/.467 against him during this stretch. Despite the results recently, Buehler’s Baseball Savant stats show that this recent stretch could be a blip. He has an 83rd percentile chase rate, and 70th (or better) percentilte ranking for fastball + curveball spin.

Last year Buehler locked the Mets down over his back to back starts against them. Overall he allowed three runs in 14 2/3 innings, holding the Mets to 10 hits and three walks while striking out 18. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

  • Eduardo Escobar 2-23, 13 K
  • Pete Alonso 4-12, 3 HR
  • J.D. Davis 3-10, 4 K
  • Brandon Nimmo 2-9, 3B, BB
  • Jeff McNeil 0-8, BB, 2 K
  • Starling Marte 1-4, 2B, BB, K
  • Patrick Mazeika 1-3, K
  • Mark Canha 0-1
