Why do so many Mets fans think that Scouting a players stats off a webpage is the same as Scouting a player? And why do so many think they can determine a a prospects future better than the professional scouts based on those same stats?

I see the Angels giving up a catcher in AA ball with 3 HR, a .242 ba and a sub 350 slugging percentage, plus a big pitcher that has god awful numbers this year. This is a team that acquired Escobar; their trade took a miserable minor league system and made it devoid of talent.

And in what world do we think Tanner Gordon is a “get”? Vodnick seems fine, okay, but he’s a AAA relief pitcher that in the upper levels averaged over 5 BB/9 and did that as a senior at Ole MIss. I suppose together they are more than I’d expect, but just because he’s Atlanta’s #10 guy, I’m not popping a champagne cork.

Like I say, sellers getting more than they thought is one thing. If you are building your future roster out of those four guys … better have a lot of good promotions to get fans in the building.
