Mets vs. Angels

Taijuan Walker tossed six innings of one-run ball with 10 strikeouts against the Los Angeles Angels to earn his fourth win of the season. Walker became the first Met to record a double-digit strikeout game against the Angels out of 21 career meetings.

Taijuan Walker recorded 18 swings and misses against the Angels over his six innings of work. That’s Walker’s most whiffs in a game since September 13, 2016 (20 whiffs also against the Angels).

Edwin Díaz recorded a five-out save in the Mets’ 4-1 win over the Angels in the rubber game of the series. All five of Díaz’s outs came via strikeouts, making it just the 17th time that a reliever recorded a five-out save with five strikeouts, and the first time for a Mets pitcher.

Brewers vs. Mets

Chris Bassitt tossed eight scoreless innings with one walk and seven strikeouts in the Mets’ 4-0 win. It was the third time in Bassitt’s career that he tossed at least eight scoreless innings in a start, and first since May 27, 2021.

Chris Bassitt became the first Mets pitcher to toss at least eight scoreless innings while allowing no more than three hits since Marcus Stroman on July 21, 2021.

Brewers vs. Mets

Brandon Nimmo recorded his fifth triple of the season in the Mets’ 10-2 loss. Nimmo became the first Met with at least five triples in a season since Amed Rosario in 2019 (7).

Brewers vs. Mets

Mark Canha went 1-for-3 with a home run, walk, stolen base, and two RBI out of the leadoff spot in the Mets’ 5-4 win. Canha became the first Mets leadoff hitter with a homer, stolen base, walk, and two RBI since José Reyes on September 19, 2008.

Marlins vs. Mets

Francisco Lindor hit a 3-run first inning home run in the Mets’ 10-4 win over the Miami Marlins. His homer traveled 440 feet to straightaway center, which was his longest home run since May 3, 2018 (445 feet).

Francisco Lindor’s homer was the 168th of his major league career. That tied him with José Hernández for the 18th-most home runs by a Puerto Rican-born player.

Pete Alonso hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. It was Alonso’s second career grand slam, with both coming in 2022. Alonso became the first Met to have consecutive grand slams in a single season since Fernando Tatís Sr. in 2009 (May 13 and July 27).

Pete Alonso’s grand slam in the sixth was the 125th homer of his major league career. That ties him with Lucas Duda for the eighth-most home runs in Mets history.

Marlins vs. Mets

Francisco Lindor hit his 11th home run of the season and drove in his 50th and 51st runs in the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Marlins. Lindor became the first Mets shortstop with double-digit home runs and 50+ RBIs in the first half of a season in franchise history.

Taijuan Walker struck out nine Marlins in his 6.2 innings of work. Over his last two starts, Walker has combined to strike out 19 batters. That’s the second-most batters he’s struck out in any two-game span for his major league career. His best is 21 strikeouts which he recorded from June 9 to June 15, 2021.

Taijuan Walker became the first Mets pitcher to record back-to-back starts of no more than 1 ER allowed, no more than 1 walk, and at least nine strikeouts since Jacob deGrom from June 5 to June 11, 2021.
