The Mets recently placed Dominic Smith on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right ankle. The move is retroactive to July 17. Now the Mets announced they’ve selected the contract of INF/OF Travis Blankenhorn from Triple-A Syracuse to take Smith’s place on the active roster.

Blankenhorn was removed from the 40-man roster earlier this season but now he’s back on it making it full at 40.

Blankenhorn, 25, was hitting .276/.340/.479 with 17 doubles, 12 home runs, and eight stolen bases in 71 games for  Triple-A Syracuse. The versatile Blankenhorn has played games at first base, second base, left field, and right field this season. He also has experience at shortstop and third base in the minors as well.

The big left-handed hitter made his Mets debut in 2022 and went 4-for-23 with two doubles and a home run.
